Do I have this right? At this point there will be one game, and each book will be GM'd by a different player.

Not sure how you're fitting in trainee GMs, but I'm always up for training newbies, whether new players or new GMs.

Actually, I'll probably just open a GM training class if I don't join this game. Doubt I'll get anybody though. I never do.

You have it wrong,

One game is Forever GM only, that is the AP.

The trainee program will be ANOTHER thread where Forever GMs and GM trainees connect up, with trainee and GM working things out, trainee runs, Forever GM plays and aids the trainee.

So, discounting the trainees, there will be one game with everyone taking turns running the game. Correct?

Getting back to trainees, there will one trainee game, taking turns, or a game for each trainee/veteran pair?

trainees and GMs pair off.

Well, I can't buy any books right now, but the ap book is shared, I'll my hat in the ring.

I originally thought this was going to be 7 games, 1 run and 6 played.

two things.

1) the group of forever DMs within a single AP group. it's nice. I like it. I also enjoy the idea of introducing twists into the campaign to truly make it singular to the group. would be fun to do, if i had the patience to be a player for that long. I enjoy being a DM way to much.

2) i really do like the idea of having a training group for potential DMs to learn from current DMs, especially on this platform. I know there is a glut of PCs and limited DMs (used to be a lot more balanced 10 years ago.) I could see myself being a player in a new-to-DM short adventure, helping that player go from PC to DM.

This is a fantastic idea!

If I can be of assistance please let me know.

I am planning on running an open Campaign on here and see how it goes. It is something I have run in FtF before and I am hoping the concept works well for PbP by helping to deal with the fact that players sometimes get sucked into the PbP Void never to be heard from again. As I have a built in in-game mechanism that allows for instant swapping in and out characters as needed.

I would also be interested in helping others learn to GM games and learn how to take a module, or more than one, and make it their own so that even if a player had played or ran it before they would not know exactly what to expect. As well as to perhaps make it a bit less linear having alternate paths that players can pursue. Further I help them to learn how to put cause and affect into place so the world seems more dynamic rather than just some static world that just is sitting around and waiting for the players to interact with it like so many modules seem to do.

Can I already start to GM a game? Should I do PFS or just a normal game? I'm already running a PFS game, wouldn't mind running another.

Is the idea here that a group of people (let's say, 6) host different games? Each person GM one of the games and the other 5 play in it?

Given my acceptance into another gsme elsewhere, I'm going to skip out on the round-robin and just run a gm academy game.

I think that there's an AP for GM only, run by a GM (?), and then there's a "trainee program" where new GMs get helped by veteran GMs who play in their games.

Mostly correct, the GM AP one will have rotating vetern GMs.

Ok, and when could we new GMs start our adventures? I have tons of free time and an absurd itch to play.

I am starting a game Diaz Ex Machina if you want to jump in.

I think I responded to this in a different thread if not I am on board sort of.

Sounds like you need a voice chat or ftf game.

I'm already in two VTT games. I like PbP to keep myself busy and to keep my creative writing in shape.

I'll check the Recruitment thread, thanks for the heads up.

Ok, since I'm a bit impatient I'm going to run a PFS1E Scenario anyway. I will GM #3-0 First Steps, Part I: In Service to Lore, if any veteran GM could/would help me it would be great.

And sorry @DeJoker, but I'm mainly interested in official Paizo adventures for now.

Its cool Diaz Ex Machina -- I am only doing DnD5e because my PF1 and PF2 skills are extremely rusty. I would be willing to help you with your game in regards to running/implementing it and such but I would, as I said, be a bit rusty on the actual guidelines for PF1. Although I do have the source material for PF1

I'm working on both threads, but have been a bit busy planning things out.

That and collecting the short adventures for the trainee program.

I'm new to the boards, and searching for a PF1 game to play. I play and GM in real life - hence why I posted here. If you open a game, Azure, please let me know as well. Thanks!

Trainee program thread is almost done, as I finally got some real time to work on it uninterrupted.

Yay! I want be the first trainee! I want to be a good GM! I crave learning! I thirst for knowledge!

I'm bored and I want to play more.

Great Diaz Ex Machina step one is be part of character creation learn to eyeball character concepts and meld them into the game you plan to be running. That is probably the biggest missed opportunity I find being done by most GMs these days.

I'm finally Done, the trainee program files.
After a few distractions, which oddly helped in finding errors, and finding things that were missing, it is near done and about to be posted.

New GM Trainee Thread is UP.
