New deities in Galactic Magic

Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Accelsys (N, change, energy, motion) seems to have been created as a god of Vanguards. It certainly can provide an origin story for your powers - they gave them to you, maybe. It's also a new take on a travler god, where the movement, not the experiences at your destiation or en route, are the point. I also see it as a more abstract/systematic deity of change vs Oras as personal/biological.

Cavrabon (NG, food, hospitality, spycraft!!) fills a food/domestic niche often missing from RPGs that would be important in real life. Mixing a good alignment with a spycraft element of listening for secrets overheard at the pub/restaurant is a cool and interesting spin. I definitely see Cavrabon worshippers passing on news of wrongdoers or those in need to others willing to take action on the information.

Kadrical (LN, collections, order, preservation) seems to have a lot of overlap with the historical aspects of Eloritu, but I appreciate the effort to develop this SFS plot point into an ongoing deity. I do like the idea of a LN deity who offers sanctuary and forgiviness to those who want a fresh start. You don't have to be good or repent of your past, just show up and follow the local rules and don't get in any more trouble. A more reasonable goal for many formerly evil people than going full Sarenrae.

Lambatuin (CN, infospheres, pop culture, social systems) gives us what I never realized I need, the god of K-pop stans, trolls, Facebook boomer memes, and social mob pile ons. I also like the allusions tying this into the previous god of the ancient infosphere discussed in Tech Revolution. And of course it's amazing that your god can show up to poast and trash talk on your favorite forum. Plenty of great PC ideas and adventure seeds, including the CG guy trying to help all the go fund mes out there for the needy and the CE guy trying to improve the infosphere by removing particularly annoying to him participants in it via violent means.

The shorter bits on the new ancestral deities did less for me than the bigger ones above but are interesting. The dragonkin bonded pair god is a cool concept without much broad reach for me, Flux the shapeshifter/disguise god has lots of PC concept applicability if you don't want the science/genetics aspects of Oras. Isvith the nuar goddess who disppeared in a maze is fine, I guess, and Jalvari the osharu who accidentally apotheoized via a screwed up experiment as the god of not rejecting the null hypothesis is hilarious. I love the idea of Meyel, the artistic dancer pahtra deity who went psycho artistic cult killer after the Vesk invaded, Romgul the dromada coward god is a great twist on the Lao Shu Po concept of self preservation at all costs, and Uvonn the telia memory god fills a great place for mental spellcasters, mental monks, and immortals editing their psyche as they go along.

Good job, writers.

I'm very curious about mixing gods and social media in Starfinder. What the DC for not believing god-level disinformation. Maybe the Gap was spread through social media. Was there only one Gap?

You can try to hack the bank account of the AbadarCorp, but does Abadar have a personal account? can you run a credit report on a god?

I like how half the gods followers attribute the Gap to their guy or gal. Eloritu knows what happend, Nyarlathotep fooled humanity into doing it so that the elder gods can't be stopped in the future, Asmodeus says forget about it so we don't have to deal with that chaos again, Cayden Cailen admits he doesn't remember anything (implying that none or few of the other gods, do, either) during the Gap, Angradd also doesn't remember the Gap, Isvith ascended during the Gap, perhaps, and

Quote:
Many of Uvonn’s followers believe she brought on the Gap as a way to bring peace to the universe through collective amnesia. If true, judging by the rampant chaos and violence throughout the galaxies, another Gap might be needed soon.

The Gaps will continue until morale improves.

Does anyone else remember, in one of the 2021 PaizoCon or GenCon panels, some Paizo Person saying that there was a new "god of awakened AI & sapient star ships that is itself an awakened starship" in Galactic Magic? I swore someone said that, and I remember being really excited about it...except, it's not there :D

Its not actually a new one as such, but I am amused at the section on Asmodeus, and how it almost implies a completely different theory of the Gap than the traditional ones. Specifically, the Gap wasn't a last ditch effort against Rovagug. . . but a last ditch effort against *Asmodeus*. After all, it sounds like his efforts were screwed over by the Gap more than nearly everyone else. . . and unlike most deities he *specifically* orders his followers to not poke into that affair. Now, why would the God of Pride not wish people to find out the truth behind the Gap? Maybe because said truth would be deeply embarrassing: that it was an attack against him, and he lost, big time.

I don't think it implies that at all. The Gap blew up all the existing infernal contracts and hurt Asmodeus' ongoing plans, things have settled in the last couple of centuries and lost ground is being retaken, he'd rather focus on the future than have his followers waste time on the past.

Where is Golarion, was the gap to cover up its disappearance, or did it even ever exist, (in Starfinder) Golarion could just be a made-up planet in a game called Pathfinder.

Option 1 ) The gods have no poking around the gap by you or your followers clauses. Even though he's evil, he takes those far more seriously than say. Cayden.

Option 2) The gap was caused by the bachelor party of Cayden and calistria. Torag brought the good stuff, everyone was blackout drunk, Dude, wheres my planet? They lost golarion, and the next morning Asmodeous wrote the non disclosure agreement while still hung over. In addition to option1, he also doesn't want it known he was dancing on the table with a lampshade on his head and was so blitzed he actially left a dangling participle in the contract that added a level of ambiguity NOT in his favor.

Love this idea :D

The Worst, Eldest Fey of Tricksy Language and Pedantry: Mua ha ha, Asmodeus, you fool! By neglecting to use the Magaambyan Comma in this ordered list of provisos, I can interpret the last, and second last, conditions as I please! Mine is an evil laugh!

I adored the new Nuar deity. I’d love for them as a people to get more love in Starfinder - and for PF2 to show us their roots with playable Minotaurs.

Starfinder needs a Draelik (or similar) god who is the anti-Yaraesa, using science to support a materialistic philosophy that leads to nihilism and the denial of free will so that nothing matters, choice and pretensions to morality are illusions. NE, but with substantial N following.

It does strike me that even with the new additions none of the deities feel like a proper fit for my half-orc soldier, who if I had to pick would have a sort of polytheistic worship of Gorum, Milani, & Shelyn, but he doesn't have the points in culture or mysticism to be aware of them for how obscure they are.

Oh well. He gets to keep on being agnostic in the "gods are real but none of them resonate with me so I don't worship any of them" sense.

I, too, remember something like that being said, and was also excited. I now believe the statement might have been about Accelsys, who's avatar is a spaceship, and the thought about it being about awakened AI and sapient starships was more of my inference as a fan rather than the explicitly stated fact of the situation.

I was wondering myself what happened to the Starship diety, but I swear they said it was an awakened ship as well... gonna have to track that broadcast down and rewatch it. I was really looking forward to that premise.

I love the idea of Lambatuin, and how there is proably an infosite out there somewhere comprising all the posts and threads they've slapped a divine like on, or equivalent.

My favorite new divine deity is probably Anba though. By and large I like the idea of the Vesk saints, and just how badly she seems to fit with the rest of them, and how Vesk can legit be discomforted by a holy saint showing up to give them an encouraging hug or something is just too precious.

We also got a new Eldest, which I really appreciated. The First World always felt like too chaotic and expansive a place to have as few Eldest as we had information on, but Apholine's inclusion re-opens the idea that more can exist and just aren't well known for some reason.

Also, while he's not a new god, I really enjoyed Caiden's writeup. There was something unexpectedly touching reading about how upset The Gap made him, and how he demonstrated that even divine beings had to find ways of coping with that trauma.

Class III post-Gap Memory Intransigence detected; deploying memetic loyalty correction agent

It was driving me nuts, so I went back to check - yep, turns out I was, in fact, thinking of Accelsys. Apparently I just made up the whole "awakened AI / sapient ships" portfolio thing myself :D
(In my defense, after re-watching the panel, I saw that I was in chat dreaming up spreadsheet devils at the time, so...I mean, pretty exciting stuff lol)
