United Paizo Workers thread

Paizo General Discussion

Seeing as there isn't a means for reporting it through the flag system, I felt it may be worth querying why this is both a sticky and closed thread. Is it okay to discuss the union situation and developments in here, or should that thread closure be read as dissuaded commentary?

I too would like to hear more about the situation. They've been silent for over a month now.

United Paizo Workers has its own blog

United Paizo Workers

The last post the union made on the blog was Nov. 15, 2021. So whatever is happening, it's not something the union wants to talk about. Nor, apparently does Paizo, since they haven't made any blog posts about the topic.

A corporate-owned and -moderated website is not the best place to look for unbiased information about negotiations. And it certainly isn't reasonable to ask the moderation team to try to keep the thread from going off the rails.

There may be more information from the UPW's Twitter feed, but I don't think these forums are the right venue for hosting discussions about the union's views, positions, and current negotiation progress.

The previous thread was closed more because of the tenor and caliber of the conversation near the end, rather than because the topic itself is verboten. To my knowledge, there is no rule against discussing the UPW on the Paizo.com forums (and I would be strongly perturbed if there was).

I would advise someone starting new threads about the UPW to be mindful of Paizo's "no political threads" rule and to keep the topic generally centered around Paizo, the UPW, and perhaps the larger TTRPG industry, rather than diving into broader, more political topics such as unions in general or current trends in labor and organization.

You may find that many Paizo staff, union members or no, are less likely to speak as openly and frankly about union matters on the official Paizo boards using their company profiles, especially during business hours when they're "on the clock". We're all wearing many hats, and navigating the differing sets of responsibilities can be tricky.
