Its that time of year again. If you appreciate the rights and freedoms that you enjoy and know or see a veteran, please take a moment to thank them for their service. We should do this more than just once a year, but it is especially important now. Many of our veterans suffer PTSD from the experience and holidays like this can bring back hurtful memories. A kind word or a simple gesture can go a long way to remind them they are loved and appreciated.
To my brothers and sisters, "This we'll defend!"

Removed a post. This is the one day out of the year when several nations recognize the service of the populace in the military. While I appreciate the sentiment of inclusion in the removed post, this thread is a chance for those in the community to say thanks, if they wish. I'd ask for posts to remain focused on the original topic.
As a military spouse, my life has been changed greatly by those who served. I thank everyone who signed the line and served for the sacrifices made and the duty done.

Reached out earlier to a member of my table who’s a vet and wished him a happy Veterans Day as well. There’s a reason I defend this company warts and all and a lot of it is to do with him. From where he was when I got the idea to get around a table with new folks and get his mind off things (rough patch for sure) to now gaming all the time, and in therapy, it’s been a boon.

My sincere thanks to all of our veterans here in the USA!
I personally know many veterans who were introduced to RPGs through the military, so I know there are a lot out there. To a soldier, all of them served not through a desire for fame or fortune, but for the noble purpose of wanting to serve their country and defend liberty.
Your service is truly appreciated!

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells,
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, -
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.
What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,
And each slow dusk a drawing down of blinds.

To all my fellow Veterans thank you for your Service.
Although our experiences in service may vary, our shared sacrifices are similar. Some have done their duty and others continue to serve. All are appreciated.
Long are the days spent away from family and from home, doing things the vast majority of people never do. Lost holidays, birthdays and other cherished events. We persevere, become resilient and find the strength to serve our nation.
I thank and salute you all!

Happy belated Veteran's Day to my fellow veterans around the world! I treasure my memories of playing AD&D 1e back in the early 80s on Okinawa with the men and women stationed there. It was a privilege to serve with you and I wish great happiness to all of you.
Thanks to those of you serving today! As long as men and women want to serve in our Armed Forces, the US and its principles will endure.
