Yep. It doesnt matter the context. Its always unhelpful, even if you're Right(TM).

I actually agree that sending message to posters every time their posts gets deleted explaining why it got deleted does wonders for moderation usually. It works even for avoiding taking part in inflammatory conversations in my experience

Like either people start correcting their behavior since they got called out on it by mods or they double down and start to argue with mods <_< Either way tends to correct the situation.

Shoutout to the Lancer RPG's discord for having a public ban log (mostly full of spam bots) so people can clearly see that bigotry/general chud-ism is unwelcome.

The Lancer devs are also outspoken about their politics, which I imagine filters out the chuds pretty well.

It doesn’t hurt that make a damn good game, too.

For serious. At this point Lancer is the only d20 game that I hold a high opinion of. Also give props for their layouts while we're at it.

A dear friend of mine does their layout!

Tell them a random guy in the internet loves it. Seriously, I find it bizarre RPG layouts aren't a solved problem at this point, but clearly it isn't so I give all my thanks to those who do a bang up job.

Well, after a two-day involuntary break from posting here (admittedly for too strongly asserting that people really need to just calm down, stop obsessing, and getting stressed out over bait before the mods could remove it) I realized that you were absolutely right, Steve, but perhaps even more than that trying to offer advice where the conflict IS happening is also a bad idea.

I only hope it all resolves itself soon one way or another.

I missed this thread over the weekend. The post I didn't miss is in the Customer Service forum where Steve asked to have his account shut down.

Likely because of the toxic environment if you take what he is saying in his request to heart.

Steve is a pillar of our community and I will miss seeing his posts.

... that breaks my heart in two. I'll really miss Steve, but I know they've been on the verge of leaving for a little while now with everything going on. :(

Lancer is great, Massif Press is great, their community is amazing. A lot of the gaming industry could stand to learn some things from them.

Oh, that's so sad to read that Steve has left. I hope that some people at least take what he was saying here to heart. This is my first post in over two years, but I've been checking the boards the last couple of weeks after I was dismayed to hear about the recent issues at Paizo and wanted to learn more. Honestly my first step to trying to get a handle on things was specifically looking at posts that Steve (and one or two others) had made since I've always found his opinions valuable.

Totally understand needing to step away from the forums, but Steve will be greatly missed here.
