2) No I don't beleave Golarion has a printing press, or any other kind of mass media for that matter (If someone can point me to an AP with a news paper or something I'll happily admit I'm wrong about this though).

There's one or two.

I could only recall the Andoran broadsheets before looking it up, so I was surprised at how many there actually are.

So there's definately a mass printing situation going on and quite possibly library systems though I agree there wouldn't be a dewey/congress one like we have today probably vary library to library too. At the very least I'd expect different organisations to have their own system.

RAW, the right Knowledge skill will allow you to try to remember the information from memory at the appropriate DC, while Profession: scholar would require you to research it in a library spending plenty of time.

Sigh, the sadness of writing a (incomplete) wall of text with a length of 367 words full of trivia and then realizing that it can be summed up in a 32-words phrase. ;-)

1) Libraries and catalogs did exist at least from the XIV century, but they were not so public. You needed some privileged access to use them.
For a relatively fast research, you need something like the Dewey system, but I doubt that Golarion libraries have a shared system.

2) Golarion has the printing press, not sure if it has mobile characters like the Gutenberg press.
Something like newspapers (not printed daily) will exist, but only in the major cities. Gazeeters and other periodics are part of the world lore.
That kind of stuff has been printed at least from the XVI century, and the more modern parts of Golarion are well within the equivalent of the Renaissance era.

Andoran, Cheliax, Nex, and Galt all have printing presses with movable type, as of 4711 A. R.

1) Yeah I'm sure they have cataloguing systems, but there's probably no universal way of doing it. Profession: Scholar is probably all about learning those systems. That's basically the job description.

2) No I don't beleave Golarion has a printing press, or any other kind of mass media for that matter (If someone can point me to an AP with a news paper or something I'll happily admit I'm wrong about this though).

I'm reasonably confident that Hellknights were engaged in raids on unauthorized printing presses in the background of the Council of Thieves AP.

So we have the Vigilante class, sure, but how are we going to get those pictures of Spider-Man?

Yup. He's having way more fun than anyone else in that movie.

By hiring a hapless NPC Vigelante ... and I guess we have to find one who has a magic PICTURE box (a wand if necessary, but a Wondrous Item would be more fun).

The coolest part about JJJ was that he wasn’t a snitch

I always remember his scene when he's regretting driving away spiderman fondly. Well regretting it till Pete steals his suit back and he reverts to spiderman's a menace.

Spellcraft. Are you an Arcane prepared caster? Like having spells? Well have I got the skill for you!

It's much worse than that.

"Your character can't move anymore or do anything."
"What happened?"
"You don't have spellcraft so you can't identify the spell."
"Oh...how do I fix it?"
"You don't know."
"I hope it wears off soon."
"Me too buddy. Me too."

Also, identifying magic items.

Pfft. 8 skills? Look at Mr Big Brain over here.

You don't need Diplomacy because a failed Diplomacy check will just lead to more combat. So if you min-max enough then you can simply kill everyone instead of talking to them.

And why would you need Monster Lore? Things die of you kill them hard enough. And if they don't die then you can throw them in a Bag of Holding. Nah, what you need is more combat optimization.

And sure, Perception sounds nice on paper. But in real play you can simply get one of those "always act in surprise round" abilities to combat even harder.

There is only one skill you need and that is Appraise. How else will you know how valuable all the stuff you find is?

I remember someone seriously using this logic in organized play and this post gave me flashbacks.
