Prehensile Hair Hex Spell Text says "Hand"

Rules Questions

Hello,

I understand that the Witch Hex Prehensile hair acts as a limb and can deliver touch spells. However, I seem to be confused with certain spells as the text specifically says "hand", such as Elemental Touch and Chill Touch. Could the Witch's Prehensile hair deliver such spells? Is the text of the spell RAW? Thanks

Yes, you can still deliver those spells with prehensile hair. Just like you can deliver them with a familiar, a poppet, or the reach metamagic.

Or like you can as a grippili with the Agile Tongue feat.

Ok cool thanks for clarifying. So the text is just "Flavor Text"? As long as the spell is of "touch" nature, it should work is what I am getting. Thanks

Not so much "flavor text" as "Sometimes the authors, designers, and developers put material in natural language instead of extremely technical wording - like when they write 'hand' instead of 'appendage capable of delivering a touch attack'."

The following is not a hard and fast rule but the first sentence of a spell's text often contains a general description of the purpose or observable effect of the spell rather than being written in precise game mechanics.

Also, understand the rules are generally written from the viewpoint of a biped. Yet there are plenty of creatures that are not bipeds that have these types of spells on their spell lists. See for example, Naga. They don't even have appendages. Yet a few of them have spells that describe the use of hands or fingers.

So when a creature is not a biped, a GM should make reasonable adjustments for how they cast their spells that describe humanoid anatomy in the casting of them.
