Ideas for Class Feats

Thaumaturge Class

A class feat that gives Thaumaturges Trick Magic Item as a bonus skill feat and lets them use there Charisma bonus instead of their Wisdom or Intelligence bonus for any relevant skill checks would be a good low level class feat.

It would also be nice to have a class feat that let the Thaumaturge use some version of Implement's Empowerment with two handed weapons (or at least two handed weapon implements). Then I could make a halfling Thaumaturge with a staff sling and a filcher's fork as a backup weapon. Halfling nature seems perfect for a Thaumaturge.

I'd also like to see more pacts, even though they are uncommon.

One idea for a pact: a pact with a hag coven that curses creatures that bring you to 0 HP but requires you to, say, surrender a number of years from your lifespan for each such curse might also be cool.

I like all these ideas.

Seconded!

- I'd also like to see some way for the Thaumaturge to use their "convincing the universe" more during exploration activities. Pick a lock with a piece of twisted metal that just... works.

- Expanding on the talisman feat (or making that baseline; my personal fave) and definitely expanding on scrolls, wands, staves.

- An alternative Esoteric Antithesis bonus for when you know a creature's weakness and are already prepared for it.

- More magic circle/glyph stuff that can be used in or adjacent to combat. Holding up something as a pseudo-sanctuary spell against an enemy would be cool.

- I'd be interested to see some Feats that let's them use their universal sweet talking with their Familiar is some way to do really cool things; perhaps even going as far as allow the Thaumaturge to use their Familiar as a sort of living Implement. For some reason, I have this image of Kir from Bandit King Jing and their ability to shoots blasts of energy when they basically fuse.

- I think maybe a line of Feats related to a Tome Implement that grants them an incredibly limited spellcasting ability could be neat; for those that want a bit more real magic. Maybe flavor it as them convincing the universe that they are in-fact a real mage.

- Some weird series of Feats that leans into their "I know things" and allows them to do some magic stuff without actually casting spells. My first thought is stuff like, knowing all the secret routes throughout the Multiverse, allowing them to travel the Planes. Or some kind of personal calling card, allowing them to summon creatures basically because they "know them personally" or have some kind of object that does so. This is defiently inspired by John Constantine primarily, who does some of this without magic.

Feats to customize Implements are a must! You should be able to tweak the Implements to better fit your character concept, such as getting a spell to cast from your wand or a rune to put on your weapon.

Next up, Feats to interact with Contracts. Why Thaum has special feats that are just Contracts, but in Feat form but doesn't get anything to access this system is strange. You could also just make the Pacts into Uncommon Contracts as well, and the feat lets you access Uncommon Contracts. You could have another feat that allows you to break contracts in more ways, twist their benefits, or even avoid penalties.

Finally, a Feat that lets you pull out an actual, appropriate item for free when you use Esoteric Antithesis, provided you have the item in your inventory. Use Esoteric Antithesis on a troll? Pull out an Alchemist's Fire. On a werewolf? A silver weapon. A vampire? A stake, garlic, or holy symbol. A wraith? A scroll of Sunburst. This feat would require some GM buy-in, but the class already does that to begin with.

I would add specific interaction to implausible esoterica, to allow you to pull that rabbit out of your hat whether or not you the player thought to buy it ahead of time.

That could get *really* funky and requires a lot more GM buy-in than say, this feat combined with the Prescient Planner/Consumable feats (which the Thaumaturge gets bonuses with anyways). The main idea is also to encourage players for getting into their character's mindset a bit by grabbing a bunch of random junk beforehand.

EDIT: I forgot that Implausible Esoterica was the Prescient Planner/Consumable access feat. Ignore that.

A good way to do this would be to clarify the Esoterica feature in general as a "storage for items" and have all the action economy "cheats" reference the Esoterica. So you can stow that's part of your Esoterica as a free action, and then specific actions allow you to pull your Esoterica from storage at an action discount. Implement Adept would pull from it as a free action, and the current Implausible Esoterica would do so as two actions.

You could even make more feats that reference it like one that lets you retrieve scrolls you make with the class feats (or possibly ones you even buy) from your Esoterica when casting them as a free action or one that lets you retrieve and affix a talisman from your Esoterica as a single action instead of the usual exploration activity.
