People have mentioned multiple times that the sheer number of skills to keep up with is oppressive. We also need to take society to identify a tyrant.

Why not just wrap them all up in the occult skill? Make it part of find flaws where you're able to identify the occult in all things. This would only apply to weaknesses do I see no issue with it...

Folks have mentioned having Esoteric Lore come in as baseline (some have suggested in lieu of Dubious Knowledge) and be used for the skill check.

Personally, I think a skill check for a martial's "thing" is fraught, especially one like this that needs to be reapplied to every monster like a Ranger's Hunt Prey. I'd rather ditch the skill check entirely.

I'd prefer the class to drop the Recall Knowledge component. It's a CHA-based martial class that creates patterns and weaknesses, and I think a dependency on previous study or preparation just muddles the concept.

That's the reason why a lot of people are asking why this class is not INT or WIS-based.

Oh man, do not look at the swashbuckler then.

I dislike the Swashbuckler's mechanic too.

Swashbuckler at least can hold panache for constant bonuses instead of going on finishers, and has some freedom to attack weaker saves depending on style. (Also, you can do All For One builds and just laugh because you crush the DC while giving allies bonuses)

Yeah, they have more flexibility than the Thaumaturge does right now. I don't like it but I don't think it's broken, I think in part because you can pick which skill you want to use from the get-go rather than have every Swashbuckler invested in the same stat array and same skills.
