Wrath of the Corrupted- interest check

Recruitment

By now, I’m sure a lot of you have seen my Wrath of the Righteous recruitment. Fun times for the good and kind hearted among us.

But I was thinking earlier today, the evil cultists and the demons and the monsters of the Worldwound never get their ‘day in court’, as they say. Their stories aren’t ever told. And I want to change that.

How many people would be interested in an evil campaign inside of the Worldwound setting? Would obviously be slightly more tailored towards the Chaotic Evil side of things, but I believe that the demon lords (and myself) have plenty of ways to make their underlings work together towards a common goal, at least until they’re ready to overthrow said demon lords.

Would obviously write a bit of it myself, but I’d likely end up scrapping together some of the work of evil adventures before me or using their influences, most notably the infamous Way of the Wicked.

Just an interest check, wanting to see how many people would bite.

Just gonna say that you're probably guaranteed to get a submission from everyone who doesn't get selected for your WotR. :)

Perfectly okay with that! I wouldn’t mind having players in both games, should the character applications be up to par.

I was thinking there might even be a chance for the two parties to meet, but I would probably just make the opposing party NPCs.

That would.be a really cool thing to happen! Maybe they see each other off in the distance or signs that the other group was there.

I think it could be incredibly interesting to tie their stories together, yeah. I’m not sure I’d want to explore the same old part of the Worldwound (around Kenabres, Nerosyan, etc.) but I’ll have to put more thought into that later.

This is just a beginning ideal, basically.

Well, I already threw my ring into the hat with the WotR recruitment...but man does this look cool too!

The demonic side of the Worldwound conflict definitely doesn't get a lot of coverage, and exploring that seems like a great premise.

I was just sitting here at work reading the Worldwound chronicle, thinking of all the cool beasts and demons you could get to work with…or for.

The staggering amount of niche evil deities would be really fun to play around with. Varying competing cults of demon lords all jockeying for power that players could be part of.

Yeaz sounds cool.

That’s definitely something I’m interested in exploring.

Sure, it’d be easy to make sure every PC is a Deskari cultist, but where’s the fun in that? Better to have a wide variety, including a couple of more obscure ones, to work with.

This also sounds like fun.

Ideally I wouldn't go for a Demon Lord though, but for Szuriel, the Horseman of War. The character would be mostly interested in keeping the fighting going.

Interesting. I've never explored chaotic evil campaigns, just lawful evil ones as in Hell's Vengeance. Sounds like a good place to explore playing evil tieflings or low-level demons, like imps.

Yeah i would have a character for this^^

I’m sure not many would question your evil intentions. Just maybe don’t mention you worship a daemon lord to anyone important and no one will have a problem with it.

That’s another angle to be explored though, characters not necessarily aligned with demons, but interested in keeping the war or invasion going for one reason or another.

If going that route Chaotic Neutral worshippers of Proteans would also be fun, they also hate both demons and crusaders (demons more though) and want to mire the Abyss in an unwinnable battle.

I kind of remember a very short lived evil based WoTR game where the PCs were followers of a minor demon lord who had a strange fascination with tea

Oh here it is.

Let The Demon Lord of Tea rise again!

I would ... just desperately want to get into a Way of the Wicked campaign again.

Most Evil campaigns run to the lawful side. One that runs closer to CE would definitely be interesting. I can think of a few directions to go.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Who needs demonic influence? How about a trickster arms merchant? Just in it for the profit!!!

Alright I have been watching the other recruitment and just not having enough time to put into a character but I would love to slide into a way of the wicked written in the world wound

I am currently GMing a Wrath of the Righteous game, it would be fun to play an evil PC in an alternate version of the campaign. I am definitely interested to see where you take this.

I’m not sure where I’d take it! Right now this entire idea is just that: a half-baked collection of ideas that may soon become a cohesive plan.

Just wanted to get a check on how many people would be interested, is all. See if it was worth it to untangle the ideas in my head.

I admit, I've been a little curious playing the computer game and seeing all the evil dialogue options. It would be very interesting to play the adventure path as evil or evil-leaning heroes, I think.

That raises very interesting questions.
Like what is evil?
What would evil characters do and how would they behave?

For inspiration, just look at contemporary politics and political/religious movements :P
That is indeed very intriguing.

It definitely didn't get my creative juices flowing and I definitely don't already have a character built lol

Id do it. Id need more details to see what approach i want to take. Plenty of ideas for mad wizards, battle crazed gorumites, and double crossing daemon worshipers.

I immediately went antipaladin/fighter gestalt (assuming same idea as the WotR recruitment). Prestige as a Sentinel to lose levels in antipally. Notice me, Deskari.

Alright well it looks like there’s plenty of interest, I’ll work on getting a recruitment up sometime after my current recruitment has ended. Look out for it late Saturday or on Sunday.

And here I was going to just post here. ;)

I would absolutely be interested in an evil Wrath/Wicked game! There's a slew of interesting character concepts I could come up with!

That's a super neat idea! I'd be very interested in it, in addition/if I get passed over your other campaign!

I was an editor on Way of the Wicked, way back when time was new.

Anyway: I don't think you'll have any difficulty finding interested players. The difficulties will arise once play stars! Evil campaigns can be wicked fun, but you need to watch out for a couple of things. PvP can be an issue -- that's one. And setting a floor or using an X-card or what have you -- that's another.

Anyway, sure, add me to the list.

Recruitment is up, in another thread. Go on, all ye evildoers!
