Manifesting A Manifested Soulforged Armament

Rules Discussion

As title: is it possible?

The reason why I ask this is because, as written, there's nothing keeping you from wearing / wielding your Soulforged Armament throughout the day as without the essence form it remains "until you Dismiss this effect", which I generally intend to just kinda not do. However, the essence form can only be manifested "Once per day when you use this ability..."

Hence, the question: can you do this when it's already manifested? Or, would you need to first dismiss the Armament with an action only to then manifest it again in its essence form with your next action? I'm pretty sure it would have to be dismissed first, but I wanted some other people's opinions.

Thanks in advance!

I think you have to dismiss and recreate. Because of the "automatically dismissed" line at the end of the ability.

I don't see that anywhere in the requirements. There is no requirement that the weapon not be currently manifested when you use the essence power.

But using the essense power does juice it up so to speak, and it will dismiss itself after 1 minute. At that time you could re-manifest it as a regular weapon.

What I see is that getting the 'essence form' of the equipment requires using the Manifest Soulforged Armament action. The requirements for that action are that you aren't already wearing/wielding equipment in the body slot that you are manifesting the equipment into. Also, since it is a specific item, I don't think you can have two copies of the item manifested.

So I think that RAW you would have to use an action to Dismiss the current manifestation and then another action to manifest the equipment with its essence form.

However, I would never enforce that in games that I ran. One action to 'remanifest' the equipment for the essence form. Probably a houserule.

Well for weapons and shields it is easy, you can drop it as a free action then manifest if that is the concern. But I would definitely rule that RAI you can "upgrade" your armor to the essense form too. Just too unwieldly otherwise.

Sidenote: If you plan to carry the weapon all day way take this archetype? I mean the bonuses you get arent THAT amazing for a once per day power. I'd say you normally take this archetype with the free action summon feat to summon your stuff at the start of combat and look cool.

Short answer is flavor + some usefulness.

Flavor: I'm playing a game with the free archetype variant, and my character already has some feats in the blessed one archetype and is very dedicated to his goddess and to purging evil from the world. Having his weapons and armor, which are very important to him, also be a part of that is really cool imo.
Usefulness: It may be only once per day, but some of the essence forms are really good, and it lasts for a minute, so that's a full combat. Sure, there may be many combats in a day, but if you read the room you can usually pick out what the big ones are that you might need a little boost in.

It's also kind of weird to me that you're simultaneously saying that the bonuses aren't good enough to take while also claiming the reason to take the feat is to look cool, meaning power level clearly isn't the only determining factor for you.
