Florence the Scarred |
Meet Florence the Scarred, and Snow the Ermine.
Florence is a half-elf Life Shaman. She's got some terrible scars as a drawback. She'll stay in the back and let fly with her longbow from a distance. She's not your party face, but she's good at pretending to have lots of magic by having a high UMD score.

So we have:
Florence the Scarred (Life Shaman: Healer/Full Divine)
Andrezzi Alazzario (Slayer: Front-line Melee)
It looks to me like Andrezzi is going to be our trapfinder (at least, starting at level 2); is that correct?
If grimdog wants to go bard--which should be fine since Andrezzi will have traps covered--then I'm thinking some kind of sorcerer or bloodrager that could be melee support to cheat out Andrezzi's sneak attack bonus. With 25 points for ability scores, that shouldn't be too hard to achieve.
I like the idea of using that additional race point for a group teamwork feat. Any particular ideas on what's best for all of us together?
Some ideas to get us started thinking:
Escape Route: no AoOs when moving through squares adjacent to allies
Lookout: act in surprise round if ally can act
Passing Grace: share "overflow" of healing with allies
Shake It Off: +1 bonus on *all* saves per adjacent ally

Yup, that's why I ignored teamwork feats that focused on melee, or casting, or any particular attack style. These four (and there are certainly other options, too) seem to be broadly beneficial. And while Shake it Off perhaps reaches its max benefit in a tight square, even two people side by side provide a +1 bonus to each other, which is still awesome. Escape route makes all 8 of a PCs threatened squares protected from AoOs, which certainly wouldn't require a line of PCs to take advantage of; the in-combat usefulness could be huge!

Also, I'm slowly building my PC. I'm thinking of shooting for the Dragon Disciple prestige class as a Crossblooded Sorcerer with the Draconic and either the Dreamspun or Stormborn bloodlines.
I will likely be human or drow to use the favored class bonus to offset the reduced spells known from being Crossblooded. If drow, I may do Shadow as my 2nd bloodline instead.
Thoughts?

Any thoughts on my 2nd sorcerer bloodline?
As I recall, Crypt is a semi-basic dungeon-delve. I don't know the other two at all; are they similar?
- Dreamspun has a slight psychic bent that might be derailed in the face of a lot of undead or constructs (but still has some nice plusses)
- Shadow would be REALLY flavorful if I go with a drow PC
- Shadowborn is going to be a massive boost to (electrical) blasting

I'm gonna level with you. I never played a sorcerer, so I have only a faint idea (at best) regarding the bloodlines. I know shadow evocation and conjuration are very universal assuming you have a high DC, but that's about it. But those are relatively high level spells, however. 4th level spells start at level 8.

Okay, I have three potential builds. They all have a light melee-support focus with the Draconic Bloodline taking advantage of Claws as attacks.
The way the builds vary is in the spellcasting component. Each has a different bloodline; let me know if any of these stand out as something you greatly prefer! I'll finalize the PC this weekend at some point--with or without your thoughts--but would love feedback.
Dreamspun bloodline: (Human) adds some psychic spells, bloodline focus on sleep (and related) and divination
Shadow bloodline: (Drow) lots of debuff potential, bloodline focus on stealth and darkness
Stormborn bloodline: (Human) pure blaster, bloodline focus on direct electricity damage

Actually, I just stumbled across another good build; this might actually be my preference!
Sage (wildblooded Arcane) bloodline: (Elf or Android) switches CHA for INT for all class abilities, bloodline focus on "general purpose" magic

@GM, have you seen this writeup about feat taxes? There's a lot of overlap and common-purpose with your modified feats. It might be worth considering adopting wholesale, as you could just drop a link instead of having to copy-paste a bunch of text. :)
