newbie question: pregens for the Slithering (really nerdy & nitpicky question)

Adventures

So, I'm essentially learning to "build" a PC by recreating the pregens for the Slithering.

Question for the veteran PF2 players:

Oraka (Orc Investigator) has the following stats at level 5:

Str 14, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 14, Cha 12

How did she get that combination at least so far as the normal ability progression goes and assuming there was no alternative method used to generate her?

I have tried every combination I can find and she always has two points more than any standard progression I can figure.

(and yes, I do realize this is very nerdy and nitpicky question but the math combinations are aggravating me)

It's been reported, but as far as I can tell, no one official has justified her stats. It could just be a mistake.

For PC-building practice, have you looked at Pathbuilder 2e? I've found it helpful for not overlooking things.

I prefer HeroLab, probably because I bought HeroLab Classic years ago and because when I first heard of Pathbuilder it was a Windows app, and I don't do Windows if I can help it. I've looked at the web version of Pathbuilder, and it's pretty good, but for the moment I'm gonna stick to HeroLab.

Hm. Just took a look at Melvok, the witch, in HLO, and it seems there are three problems with him:

1. He has spent about 33 more gold for stuff than the 270 a starting 5th level character should get. Not a big deal, easily adjusted, just give him more gold.

2. He only has access to 9 cantrips - 4 he's prepared, and five more in his "spellbook", aka Hovv, his familiar. He should have, and prepare, one more.

3. The pregen sheet mentions Hovv, his gerbil familiar, but does not provide a stat block for him. In particular, the pair gets three master/familiar abilities to choose, but there's no indications which ones Melvok chose. Again, easily fixed, but...

I'll go take a look at the others now. :-)

Okara's Abilities are definitely horked, and it's a problem that propagates throughout the characters. Basically, she's got an extra ability boost at first level, and no source for it. Her skills are messed up too. She's got an unallocated skill increase to expert, and because her ability scores are messed up, some of her skills are messed up too.

This one's not so easily fixed in HLO.

Savshin Starwatcher has two too many cantrips and has spent more than 270 gp on gear. She also doesn't seem to have a "related domain" entry. Options are darkness and moon, so I gave her moon.

Zathri seems to be okay. I didn't find any problems other than overspending the 270 gp standard.

I just discovered builds for all four of these characters in HeroLab Online's "Vault". With the exception of Oraka's abilities, which are set to +2, +3, +2, +4, +2, 0, leaving CHA as 0 instead of +1, and allocating that last skill increase to expert to Athletics, it looks like they all have the faults I reported. According to HLO's Vault then, Oraka and Zathri are "valid"; Melvok and Savshin Starwatcher are not.
