Blood Crow Strike cast time

Rules Questions

Just to be clear, blood crow strike's 1 round cast time means the spell takes effect at the start of my next turn (like summoning spells etc), making a flaming ranged flurry of blows against the target, then i get to take the second turn's actions as normal?

The Exchange

There are three possible interpretations to this spell and, as far as I know, there has never been an official clarification.

1. You make the flurry of blows as part of casting the spell.
2. When you finish casting the spell you get a "free" flurry of blows.
3. It takes 1 round to cast the spell, then on the next round you can make a flurry of blows (as that round's full-round action) with the additional benefits of the spell.

Interpretation problem with 1 is trying to figure out when you make the flurry (what if someone forces a concentration check after you have already made the flurry?) and with both 1 and 2 is that the text doesn't say that you get to make a flurry as part of the spell, just that:

Quote:
You can make unarmed strike or flurry of blows attacks against the target as if it were in your threatened area

Interpretation problem with 3 is that the spell is instantaneous.

My home game fix is to give the spell a one-round duration. One round to cast and then for the duration you can attack the target as if it was in your threatened area.

If I remember correctly this spell and a few others (cold ice strike comes to mind) were originally not going to be spells at all. They were going to be solely Qinggong Monk abilities and would function differently. Then they decided to make them into actual spells and give them to the Qinggong as spell-like abilities. However as part of that change they ended up with errors like missing components, overpowered spells, and this duration/usage mismatch.

Liberty's Edge

I think it works that way, but the description is really confusing.

that must be the worst designed spell i have ever seen and whoever wrote is does not understand how pathfinder works.

as it is worded it would go off at the start of the second turn you would then gain a free full attack and then be able to have a full normal turn after, because magic.

but look at it this way at least the spell can work if the gm agrees on how it goes. unlike monkey lunge which is the biggest trap feat in pathfinder.

Monkey lunge just needs enough mind caulk to read it as negating the penalty on lunge when you make a standard action attack with lunge. Which is still very bad but not unusable bad.

& yeah I'd read blood crow strike like Starocious.
