ring of the ecclesiarch and cohorts

Just a quick rules question as it is not clear to me.
Is a Cohort counted as one of your followers? and will the ring of the ecclesiarch grant an additional cohort?

The leadership feat list Cohorts and followers separately. The description also says that “Followers have different priorities from cohorts.” It also gives them separate modifiers to the leadership score. That makes it pretty clear that the ring will not double the number of Cohorts you get.
