Can points be gifted to other players? Let's say you have a player who can't play often but really would like to play an uncommon ancestry. Could one or more players kick in some points to make it possible? We used to be able to give away the paper boons.

Not at this time. We are aware that there is some amount of demand for the ability to transfer points and/or boons; it's not on our immediate radar to add, as we have other bug fixes in the queue ahead of it.

If you or your players are looking for ways to get additional points, remember that GMing awards twice the AcP as playing, and that certain special events (such as events with RSP and conventions like PaizoCon Online) add multipliers on top of the base value. Our Monthly Update blogs include convention listings if you're looking for worldwide events to participate in!

I really like that you are looking into ways to do this. I used to give away most of the boons that I earned, sometimes to random newcomers.

Hmm

Just adding my voice to those looking to be able to do this. It would be a great thing to have, even if it’s in a limited form.

Since I'm happy with my mischief of spacerats, I've been handing out vlaaka by the pack

I have been blessed as an essential worker to have *some* opportunity to play and GM. I am very grateful for the chances I have gotten.

HOWEVER...

I know several other people who have *not* been able to secure that same opportunity due to their scheduling.

And if someone doesn't have time to play, more than likely they do not have time to volunteer as a GM at any location (even online).

I may not exactly be swimming in ACP (and with some recent costly options added to the list the resources may be earmarked for something else) but I would love the ability to donate ACP to someone who really is helping everyone else out, but cannot get the chance to properly enjoy the rewards of that hard and necessary work.

I was just going to ask this same question regarding gifting AcP points.

What if I purchased the boon and signed it off to another player?

Nope. There's nowhere on the AcP boon to mark trades (as I know some PF1 and SFS boons had) and it is both filled out with your character's info and attached to your account.

I know you said not at this time, but I would wonder if there was eventually some way to code or adapt an AcP version of the current PDF gifting system.

I think right now you need, what, their username? So, maybe, in the future, I "Purchase" an AcP Boon that then has two drop downs: one for the person's username, and another for the Boon I'm gifting them.

Or maybe just add an option to the current drop down list. Right now your characters are the ones that come up. Maybe at the bottom you could add "Gift another user", and then the search function comes up.

Just me spitballing.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this.

The potential benefits are quite high, and so are the potential drawbacks.

If it's implemented, it's going to require infrastructure, monitoring, and then fine tuning - none of which (sorry Paizo) Paizo is particularly good at.

It doesn't sound like a good fit for the resources we have available. I love the idea and would benefit from it (I would love to give AcP to my kids so they can make PFS-compliant versions of their homebrew characters) but I don't think it's realistic to expect.

Agreed. While the idea is great, the implementation appears less than possible. On top of that, it definitely fall into the 'would be nice to have' and I'd prefer Paizo focus on the 'need for the system to work' things.

I'm confused. If someone is doing so much to "help everyone else out" then how would they "not have time to volunteer?"

I don't find the risk to be any more than most other things. While I am not personally interested in sharing my AcP, other people doing so has no impact on me so I hope they get the opportunity. Though I agree there are other more pressing matters to attend to and its encouraging to hear that "bonuses" like AcP sharing are down the list from those.

If someone is pulling 50-60+ hours of retail work or has been on-call at a hospital or mandatory overtime protecting our communities (first responders, paramedics, firefighters) that is not time that can be used gaming.
