Kitsune Foxfire

Rules Questions

Entirely possible I'm mis-remembering, but is there more than one way/path to get a magical fox fire ability specifically linked to the Kitsune race? I seem to recall 2 or 3 different powers/features by that name, all similar, but mechanically distinct.

I know there's the kitsune bloodline for sorcerer, and there are a few kineticist talents.

I seem to recall either a racial magic item for kitsune, similar to a star gem (?)
and/or a racial feat other than magical tail.

Can anyone help me out?

There's a kitsune star gem sure. Kitsune racial feats couldn't really be described as fox fire, but there's non-racial feats like faerie's strike which might be.

Specifically I'm looking at the fox fire Level 1 bloodline power from the kitsune bloodline.

Is that the only place that an ability like that exists? I feel like I saw a similarly named (possbly same name) ability from another source, but I can't recall if it's from a different bloodline, a feat, or a magic item.

Quote:
Foxfire (Sp): At 1st level, as a standard action, you can create up to four eerie spheres of light that function as dancing lights. While in possession of one or more of these spheres, you can attack one target within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack by directing a sphere at it. This sphere deals 1d6 points of fire damage. Whether or not the sphere hits, it disappears as if its duration ended. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier.

That's a pretty terrible ability, are you sure you want it? The action economy is just awful and the damage is poor.

The vengeful comets spell has a similar visual but it's not kitsune-related. It does have a better action cost. There's probably other similar spells or items - but not kitsune-related that I can think of.

It's not so much about the mechanical efficacy of it, as it is the flavor. Foxfire is such a classic part of the kitsune imagry. My search fu is truly terrible, and I thought I had seen a few different foxfire named abilities, some of which were mechanically better than others. I'm fine to reflavor something else if I go that route though.

There is a PF2 ancestry feat that grants the ability to fling magical fire with your tail, but that would not work for PF1.
