Explain To Me Like I’m Five: How does Fast Healing Interact with Dying?

Rules Discussion

Say a character, due to a spell, has Fast Healing 5 and gets taken down with a critical hit: what would happen, would the PC go to Dying 2 and then on his next turn, would the PC gain 5 hit points, be Wounded 1 and regain consciousness? And would it be any different with Regeneration 5 (deactivated by acid), same scenario?

This is exactly what would happen.

The same thing happens unless the charcer takes acid damage which deactivates his regeneration for a round so he'd not gain any health, stay unconsious and would have to make a flat check to reduce his dying condition as normal.

PCs can't get Regeneration AFAIK, but assuming the creature you're talking about has it, it can't die unless the regen is deactivated. Something with just Fast Healing can be killed.
