Advice on Sacred Huntmaster

Advice

Hi Everyone,
I want to make a Sacred Huntmaster with the rage domain, hoping to use Ferocious Mount & Amplified Rage at 12th lvl. I was thinking of having tiger so that all those attacks can be raged.
Here are the feats I was thinking of using:

The Tiger King
Half Orc
Shaman Enhancement
Toothy

Lvl 1
Domain: Rage
Combat Expertise (for pack flanking)
Lvl 3 feat: Power Attack Bonus feat: Pack Flanking
Lvl 5 feat: Improved Spell Sharing
Lvl 6 Free teamwork feat: Outflank
Lvl 7 feat: Broken Wing Gambit Riding Tiger!!!!
Lvl 9 feat: Combat Reflexes Teamwork Feat: Paired Opportunist
Lvl 11 feat: improved Critical
LvL 12 Rage Power: Ferocious Mount bonus feat: Amplified Rage
Lvl 13 Snapping Flank

Do you think this would function well? Is a tiger a good choice, or should I aim for a mount with one big attack to make the Aoos hit stronger? Thanks!

It looks solid. An inquisitor's solo tactics isn't as good as a hunter sharing feats with the companion though and I'm not sure improved spell sharing works with it at all - the benefits don't extend to the companion.

A tiger is always going to be a good choice because of pounce. You could go with a rhino or an ankylosaurus or whatever due to your emphasis on AoOs, but it won't necessarily be better overall. Outlank on multiple attacks has a better chance of triggering than on one, after all.

Hunter's Tactics from Sacred Hunter replaces Solo Tactics.

All good then.

The Exchange

I played a somewhat similar build to this (sacred huntmaster of Irori with a tiger companion) in PFS to 12 level and it is very strong. I intended to build a RP-focused character that was competent in combat, and I ended up with a killing machine. Just getting all those inquisitor buff spells for the tiger and adding the teamwork feats is a huge bump. My PC was mostly incapable of doing damage and I didn’t take any combat feats - for my PC or the tiger - other than teamwork feats and the tiger was still usually the most lethal character at any table.

Building like this with an eye for combat in particular is going to make you very deadly.

(I will point out that you’re going to be very MAD. You need an Int of 13 for combat expertise, a decent Wis for spellcasting, a high Dex to get multiple AoO, decent Con since your AC won’t be great while raging, and of course a big Strength bonus for attack and damage.)

So you recommend I don't go with Power Attack? Also, even if you have multiple AoO's, you can only attack an adversary with one attack per trigger, right?

Correct on the AoOs. If an enemy moves through multiple squares you threaten you can only make one attack, regardless of how many AoOs you have. However your mount could also make one attack.

I was putting in an aside that tigers are killing machines on their own, and that you were going to have to make some tough decisions on stat allocations. If you want to do good damage, you want Power Attack and strength. You need Dex for combat reflexes to go with your Broken Wing Gambit. You need Con to survive while raging. You need Wisdom to cast spells.

Potential 20 point buy:

I'd probably go with the following):
STR 16 (+2 racial)
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 12
CHA 8

That gets you 3 AoOs, decent HP, and the ability to at least cast spells while still dishing out damage. I would only do this if I was absolutely sure I would be able to buy/make a headband to boost my Wis before 7th level. You're kinda in this weird situation on the Wis. Before 8th level you would want a high Wis so you can throw out lots of buff spells during combat. At around 8th level when your build comes online you can't cast spells while raging, so wis is less important.

Other people might drop Int and Cha further, but my personal preference (the way I play my characters) is not to do so.

My DM allows stat rolling, and I've never seen a poorly "rolled" character. I wish it were point buy.
