Free Multiclass?

Summoner Class

I don't know if this idea is a little too out there, but I figured I'd see what everyone thinks.

Since the question of what exactly the Summoner Multiclass Archetype will look like is a bit of an open question, and nearly every playtest that I've seen on these forums have had at least one archetype, why not run with it?

Idea: There won't be a Summoner Archetype (the first class to do so) and instead the Summoner gets a free dedication feat they can put into a specific selection of archetypes (like the eldritch trickster but expanded to include more than just Multiclass Archetypes). And then let them choose if they want it on themselves or their eidolon as others have proposed.

I think k it would be awesome that the Summoner dedication would actually be reversed.

Let's say you're a fighter. Your Eidolon gains all fighter feats, expert attack, etc etc what a fighter would have while you lose your class.

This would be nifty imo.

How not having a summoner archetype justify having a free dedication feat (aka getting more power for nothing)?

It doesn't.

My first post wasn't very clear. I don't think the summoner needs a buff because it's not getting a Archetype. I just think it needs a buff, period.

Thematically it can be justified by saying that the Archetype is extra life experiences you (or your eidolon) received before becoming bonded to eachother.

Especially since in the first edition the summoner was treated more as phenomenon than a career choice.(Except for the God Callers)
