Oh, right you are. I forgot what I myself pointed out earlier : only the worth in credits matters. As long as your investment covers it, you can make it.
So not only was I wrong, it's in fact the exact opposite : you absolutely want your Gear Array to be your second or third, because it is the one array that is entirely unaffected by what is a somewhat brutal penalty for the 2 others.

There is no credit limit, so no, it couldn't.
The credit limit only exists as a patch for how much you can spend on investment at the start of the game above first level.

That only works if they scrap the investment credit mechanic entirely.
I mean, they should probably do that, for other reasons, but it would result in some forms being useless if used in a secondary manifold array, which isn't a great feeling.
