In the original version of The Varnhold Vanishing (I bought the books before the 10 year anniversary), Vordakai's stat block doesn't mention the Fear Aura from the lich template. However, the description of his Atrophied condition doesn't say anything about him losing the Fear Aura either. Has there been any errata issued on this?

hello cenorin! i've not seen any errata published by paizo on this; the only thing that can explain the absence of this ability is the quote in his "special abilities" part: "the exact effects from atrophy vary from lich to lich". IMHO, it's the only way his fear aura could have disappeared.

That would make sense, but I'd hope that the text would say something about that (like it does for the other differences from the standard lich template).
I'll probably give him the Fear Aura when I run the encounter. (That said, none of my PCs uses bludgeoning weapons, so I might leave it out if it looks like things will be hard enough for them.)

By not including the fear aura for a lich who has lost abilities, they are avoiding duplication by having to say it twice. Word count issue, imo.
He nearly wiped the floor with my players years ago (I posted an epic 40-round battle that took our entire afternoon with him under my old moniker). Even without a fear aura, his paralysis hit and DC are so high it's nearly an auto-fail, especially if no one found the Ring of Freedom of Movement. He can Dimension Door away when hurt, then heal himself with negative energy.
When I was feeling cruel, I simply had him abandon spells and just paralyze touch PCs. With that all said, you could add a feature that the battle brings back some spark of his powers, and if he's down to 50% hp (aka the party is having an easy time of it), a latent ability comes back.
