In fact, I'd say that this is even more anecdotal evidence that non-traditional familiar's should definitely be allowed.
I second mrspaghetti, generally the look and fluff of a familiar is up to the player. If you have a really hard line gm, then go alchemist and take an alchemical familiar, then just say it's an alchemic-gingerbread man. But really I don't see that as being strictly necessary.

I too would allow for a Witch to take a gingerbread man familiar, because what impact does it really have on anything but your enjoyment of the character? Well, beyond maybe some creatures being inordinately drawn to the familiar because gingerbread is delicious...
1st, love the reference.

Familiars
Source Core Rulebook pg. 217
Familiars are mystically bonded creatures tied to your magic. Most familiars were originally animals, though the ritual of becoming a familiar makes them something more. You can choose a Tiny animal you want as your familiar, such as a bat, cat, raven, or snake. Some familiars are different, usually described in the ability that granted you a familiar; for example, a druid’s leshy familiar is a Tiny plant instead of an animal, formed from a minor nature spirit.

Granted, not every GM will interpret it flexibly like me, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed. It's just flavor after all. Alchemists craft their Familiars.
Halgur wrote:So I was looking at the APG and found the cook background and felt inspired.
