[GM, spoilers] stat blocks from 1st ed?

Agents of Edgewatch

on pg. 14-15 there are a few encounters that use the Bestiary 6 from 1st edition. (hoots,Rusty, ect) I'm guessing these are just for the pictures and an incorrect reference.

No, they refer to page 6 of PF2 Bestiary.

thanks for clearing that up :)

To be specific, it's a reference to the elite template on page 6 and then the base creature on page whatever, which ends up looking like "Bestiary 6, x."

It's been confusing people since P2e released, but they have been very consistent in using the notation. Note that the 6 is not italicized, indicating it's a page reference and not part of the title. A reference to page x of P1e Bestiary 6 would look like "Bestiary 6 x" (note no comma).

Do folks find the page reference to the elite and weak rules on page 6 of the Bestiary helpful? I'm tempted to go on a mission to try to convince folks to stop citing it to cut down on confusion...

At this point I feel like the page number is etched into my soul, just from seeing so many people think it's an error. I can't tell you where the DC by level or encounter building charts are, but I know without a doubt the elite and weak templates are on page 6. I feel like the page number should be there, but at the same time, there is a LOT of confusion.

I recommend that folks stop citing it. I know what the adjustments are and where to find them, but I still get thrown for a loop whenever Plaguestone cites "Bestiary 6" in a 2E Adventure.

I'd say remove it to avoid confusion. It's on the GM screen which is more convenient to me.

I'd be a little curious to try a change in formatting first. Perhaps "Pathfinder Bestiary 304, 6" would at least make it more obvious that the 6 is a secondary page reference and not part of the book title

This. 100% this.

It would have been less confusing if bestiary had been called bestiary 1 :P

I personally will never get any use from the page callout, but I do think a text box will be useful for newer GMs or the forgetful. Just important to make it more distinct than it currently is imo, given how many times I have seen this come up in confusion so far lol.

This only works until we get bestiary 304 /s

But seriously i think this is the best solution, as newer gms who dont know where the modifications are likely want to see the reference and this way confusion is cut down.

It is definitely not necessary.

And it took me forever until I realized what it meant: "they're actually telling me what page to find the Elite/Weak rule on". I couldn't even fathom needing that.

And yes, I too looked through Bestiary 6, understanding nothing.
