Honestly, at this point I'd just hope if an editor is trying to contact and it is all quiet, there'd be a post here just reminding said person to email back in case the emails are going nuts. Like those supermarket tannoy announcements. Otherwise, I do get the anxiety of being worried if an editor has tried to reach you but your email account has secretly thrown the message into the spam folder. Then again, I'm kind of new to this so maybe I'm hoping too much or being unreasonable.

I mean, that did apparently happen to me, but I'm still unsure of which email it was because editor has been very busy ^^;

At this point, all First Round Edits are complete. If you didn't hear from your editor, well....that probably means that the edits were minor or not substantial enough for the author to be consulted. I often tell the editors that if an article needs more work, then they need to loop the author in on it, and make them do the work, with input from the editor. If you don't hear from the editor, then that probably means your article didn't need big changes.

Also, if there is an issue with emails or no responses, the editors let me know, and then I make the contacts and connections. If you are truly concerned about it, email me/Wayfinder and ask for an update. I can let you know what I know, and supply you with the edits if you are truly interested or concerned. I would, however, prefer to wait on that until after Round 2 edits.

I think after all's said and done I'll definitely reach out for information on what got edited. Mostly to find out what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong and how to generally improve. The accepted submission, while short, was genuinely fun to write up (as well as personally a smidge humorous) so would like to do more.

There are a few communities for gaming writing, if you're curious. There's also a November RPG Writer's Workshop that's highly recommended (although it is a bit 5e biased).

I might begin crawling into such communities once I know what I'm doing right and wrong, although likely stepping clear of 5e ones since I don't really have many positive things to say of the system besides its community is staffed by devoted and talented folk.

I've been waiting with bated breath until I just realized it's coming out in -May-, not -March-.

Le sigh.

MAY!? I thought it was March too, damn I just want to see how it all turns out. This is so exciting and terrifying!

Yes, remember that release is always tied to PaizoCon now...which is Memorial Day weekend.

I promise that the wait will be worth it.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

You think a guy too dumb to know the difference between March and May will know when PaizoCon is? :-)

I'm already eager with anticipation for the subject of #22 to be announced. Been getting the itch to write more and more!

Me too, but is there someone missing?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

It's May!

I need Wayfinder to be released already! End of the month cannot come fast enough, I am so excited to see the content I wrote, never mind finally see what the rest of you have cooked up!

I hope everyone is excited!

Or new submission like before!

I'm excited! It's been a long time since I've done a short story, so I'm also kind of nervous.

So, my apologies in advance if I missed an announcement or info post.

But how will the release work for Wayfinder 21? It is my understanding it is released during paizo con. Will the Wayfinder release have its own segment/twitch stream piece or is jut simply uploaded online at the start/end of the con?

I have never watched/been aware of a Wayfinder release before so this is all quite new. Thank you in advance!

Last year they had an online party for it, but Paizocon was free. My guess is there might be a little thing online but it's for the paid attendees.

Would authors have to pay for the little thing online if there may be one?

Wayfinder is published at the same time PaizoCon starts (whether in-person or virtual) and it's made available here on the Paizo site as a free download whether you're attending the convention or not. Presumably, if you want to attend this year's PaizoCon (including any online "party" for the Wayfinder release if it's hosted on their Discord channels), you'd want to purchase a badge for the entire convention (though, Paizo is making some free badges available where others have donated to provide them to anyone who can't afford it). If I got any of that wrong, I'm sure someone official will come along and correct me. :)

I'm not sure if there'll be a "party", anyway. I'd say "lets set one up on Twitch!" Except 1)I know nothing about Twitch and 2) I don't know if there'll be a panel for it at the official paizocon. But I can't afford the $25 since I just bought a house and I can't justify asking for a ticket for free seeing as I just bought a house.

FYI you don't need the $25 badge to attend the panels, just to play games.

What? Really? Cool!

Okay, first of all thank you for all of the responses everyone! Paizo have now posted their twitch schedule and I see nothing that could be Wayfinder specific (unless it is one of the interviews, but I suspect not - of course if the interviews need a tribute I volunteer).

So unless their is something in the Discord channels (which we need to pay to gain access to?) their doesn't appear to be anything specific to celebrate the release? Now, if the discord channels are free and it is just the game channels I would LOVE to know which discord and to get an invite! (as I am sure many people would).

Do I have that all right?

It doesn't appear that you need to pay to have access to the discord or the twitch. But I don't see anything Wayfinder specific. I do know the folks over at Freelance Forge are doing panels about freelancing.

That is a relief! Do you know where the link to join the discords are?

Also, where will the panels for freelancing be on/at?

Thank you in advance!

It's okay! I found it all! Okay, well I guess I am prepared to watch the subreddit's and the discord to see what people think (while looking through the whole thing myself of course). As well as having the stream open... I guess I have a busy weekend ahead of me in just over seven days!

I really cannot wait to see what you have all created.

I have some idea (muahahahaha I took on an editing role this year) but I'm excited. Kind of wish I had thought ahead and set up a reading. Of course, I would have had to learn Twitch/OBS (Is that what the kids are using these days?) Ugh, I feel like an old lady. I should have asked my Zoomer students about this stuff.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Zombkat, I've been playing these games since the '70's. I know how you feel.

Come to think of it, the last time I submitted something like this, it was 1980 and I hadn't gotten a driver's license yet.

Zombkat wrote:

You could actually do it as an audio-only reading via Discord, making sure to mute everyone except you and then just post artwork when relevant to the piece you're reading into a channel. Less work than OBS/Twitch at least?

If I had any kind of my presence as a streamer I would certainty set up a stream to go through the book and talk about all the entries. But alas, I don't and I am only super active on twitter (for TTRPG purposes).

Still, I am off all of the PaizoCon weekend, so I will likely be living on the streams and on twitter for the duration! You know, while shamelessly tweeting about this book once I have read it!

I am not high enough on the wayfinder administration to early art access. Had I been more knowledgeable/ if I learned to stream like I keep saying I'll learn I could have volunteered.

I'll likely just be sneaking around Twitter/message boards/etc to see comments on Wayfinder. I don't expect my Side Trek Seed to get much attention, but any shout-out would be fantastic. Also will be excited to read the other entries, see if there's any good ideas I can use in my own campaigns.

I will be doing the same pretty much! Want to see if anyone says anything about my contributions. I am hopeful that everyone will receive some kind of compliment! Probably going to keep an eye on these forums, Reddit, Twitch (though that's unlikely), Discord and Twitter.

Also, when Wayfinder is out, let me know your piece Riobux, I love the layouts of Side Trek seeds!

I've seen some canine-related art on Facebook for stories that aren't mine, so I'm now double excited.

The zen calm to which I have been pretending since September is starting to fray.

Tim announced on the Facebook page that there will be a launch party at 4pm saturday! I did not ask which timezome yet (stupid big united states)

I immediately tracked this down! That is amazing news! I assume it will be 4pm PDT (same timezone as the rest of the Con) so I guess I am staying up late but this will be worth it.

And I found the channel! I am very happy... and if I am honest, much like Tarondor, my Zen is fraying! I need to see how this goes.

Would it be possible to get pointed in the right direction for the launch party? Really just curious to see any sort of comments/reviews/feedback that gets made for this issue.

Okay, I will lead as best I can!

First of all you will need to join the PaizoCon Discord. Go to this page of Paizo's and the link is there. (if you don't have Discord it is very easy to use and set up. https://paizo.com/paizocon

When you join the discord there are loads of channels etc, I recommend muting the ones not relevant to your interests, but the Wayfinder channel is down in the "Paizo Partners/licensees" section. So that is where I imagine a lot of the material will get posted during the stream (which I assume will be in one of the stage channels (same section, there is an A and B stage).

The reveal party is supposed to be at 4pm PDT on Saturday.

Yesss!!! Thank you all who worked to make this happen for giving newbie writers a chance to write content for people beyond their own tables! The presentation of the magazine is amazing and totally professional-quality, and all the artists did stunning work!

Question: A Side-Trek Adventure was not in submission category.

Nope! Those are independent of the call. We either line someone up to write one, or we have a call for pitches for the side-trek adventure.
