Familiar with 2 alignment templates?

My Ratfolk magus has a mauler giant flea familiar. He is riding him as a mount and they both have the escape route teamwork feat. The character's personality, build, and actions will be kinda focused on the familiar. Mostly just because I find the idea of a Ratfolk with a flea that is bigger than him just hilarious.

As I understand it the only thing I can do with the Improved Familiar feat is take one of the alignment templates. Celestial, Infernal, Entropic, or Resolute.
My character is currently true neutral, but part of my plan for him is to eventually become chaotic good. So I figured I would take improved familiar and give him the entropic template.

Now is there any rules legal way to eventually give him both the entropic and celestial templates?

If not, any other suggestions on what I can do with mauler giant flea familiar?

What sort of name would a Ratfolk give to a flea?


I think to get both templates you'd need to be an aasimar, or otherwise get access to aasimar racial feats. Which doesn't seem doable RAW.

Evolved familiar might be possible if you have the Cha for it, and there's several things that could be done with that. I think spark of the uncanny would override a mauler's inability to speak. Spending feats on the familiar directly might be a poor bargain though, there are a lot of relevant mounted combat feats.

A flea which can grow to human-size would naturally be called something like "Teeny" IMO.


@Revolving Door Alternate, You have a problem.

Improved familiars otherwise use the rules for regular familiars, with two exceptions: if the creature’s type is something other than animal, its type does not change; and improved familiars do not gain the ability to speak with other creatures of their kind (although many of them already have the ability to communicate).

Since you do not have "speak with animals of its kind.", you cannot get the Mauler Archetype with it.

Anyhow, the templates only give 5 resist to some energy types. They don't give DR, since that requires actual HD. [Defensive abilities are attributes, not effects.] Getting both means you get 4 rather than 2 or 3 energy types.

I thought I read somewhere that it had been decided, if you just take one of the alignment templates and not a different creature type, you don't lose the 'speak with animals of its kind' ability.

But yes, since you don't get HD for the increasing abilities I decided not to go with the improved familiar anyway. Just didn't give enough to be worth a feat.
