What a tragic, awful loss.

Grant Imahara, of "Mythbusters" and "Star Trek Continues" has died at the age of 49.

If you've never watched Star Trek Continues, it's a fan made web series featuring 11 full length episodes that fill in some of the adventures the original Enterprise crew might have had if the series had lasted longer. It's an astounding tribute and work of love. Grant portrayed Sulu and did an outstanding job. I recommend folks check it out. Grant was terrific.

I binge watched all of Star Trek Continues on YouTube last week. It's a significant step above [the three episodes I've seen of] Star Trek New Voyages, even with the latter's TOS guest stars: William Windom, Barbara Luna, Walter Koenig, George Takei, Malachi Throne, Grace Lee Whitney and Majel Barrett's voice.

The final two episodes just completely blew me away by tying the pilot to the beginning of the cinematic era. That was a fantastically clever idea. When they finished with "Continues" they allowed all the episodes to be downloaded and burned onto a blank DVD. I did just that as soon as I could.

Grant was also on at least one episode of Will Wheaton’s Table Top

I meant to comment more originally but got distracted. I watched "New Voyages" pretty faithfully, jumping on Youtube as soon as a new episode was announced. Some were pretty good, some were pretty awful. There was one episode actually adapted from a short story that appeared in a collection called "New Voyages" that came out in the mid-1970s (the "Mind Sifter" episode. I still have that book...lol). They did a fairly good job with it but it should have been a two-parter. I will say this for the "New Voyager" episodes. Brandon Stacy, one of the actors who played Spock brought more gravitas to the role than Todd Haberkorn did in "Continues". In fact, I think Brandon Stacy was used in the Abramsverse Star Trek movies as a stand-in for Zachary Quinto when blocking scenes. That's not to take anything away from Todd. He did a fantastic job.

RIP. I don't watch TV, but sometime maybe some episode of mythbusters. I remember him.

I sorry very much. He wasn't too old yet.

No, he sure wasn't.
