Is there a list of monsters new to PF2 anywhere?

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Basically what the subject says. Bonus points if it is sorted/sortable by level.

As compared with Pathfinder First Edition? Not that I'm aware of, although you could create one with a little bit of work using the Archives of Nethys.

1) On the Second Edition version of the site, click on Creatures then Monsters, then on each alphabetical letter.
1a) Copy all the bold entries and paste them in a spreadsheet.
2) Do the same with Pathfinder 1e > Monster Index, and paste the list in a second column in your spreadsheet.
3) Compare the columns and highlight the creatures that only appear in the first column.

Maybe not monsters but in the two AP's we have for 2E we have two new races. The spider people from AoA and the Shoony(pug people) from extinction curse.

So I had nothing better to do today:

I'm only in C, but I'm working on it lol. Split it by new versions of old monsters vs completely new monsters, though some (Crimson Worm, for example) felt new enough for the "new" list while things like Coil Spy (a serpentfolk type) felt like they belonged in the second.

This is basically all I'm doing today, so open to feedback. Especially if there should be three lists: New, New inspired by old, alternate versions of old. Then things like Serpentfolk and Bugbears would be in one, Crimson Worm would be in another, to give new things like the Aolaz room to shine.

We actually don't have Ancestry stats for the anandi. They exist and we have NPC/monster stats for them, but we don't have PC stats. Just to be clear.

We have both for the Shoony.

I'm seeing some "new monsters" that aren't actually new. The Dracolisk, Grendel, and the Evangelist (formerly just Kyton) are all returning.

If you give people the ability to comment, we can help out by adding comments.

I've made it so people can comment, good call! Haven't one a public list like that before. Also, Archive of Nethys was missing a few creatures, so anything that is in the new list that isnt was just missing there. Also, I got lazy and wrote "Stuff" for things like, say, the nine Xulgath variants listed, or three drow, or three druegar in the second list. But open to comments and suggestions, as well as anything I've got wrong.

Blimey, I didn't realise there were so many. I spotted the Cauthooj and Gogiteth and thought there might be a few more, but I did not expect this.

(The reason why I care is that I have created a new continent in my homebrew world for PF2, and I want to showcase PF2-specific monsters when populating it).

Thanks everyone!

When I statted making that list, neither did I lol. So. Many. Monsters

Have any of the new monsters been pulled from folklore/mythology/pop culture? I was a bit disappointed to find that, as far as I can tell, the only monsters with those as sources are existing monsters being readapted for PF2E. Which is a shame, as I always like seeing how they interpret those sorts of creatures.

There are a few renames snuck in there amongst the new monsters: Arboreals (Treants), Bloodseekers (Stirges), Web Lurkers (Ettercaps). Also, Two-Headed Troll might be new to Pathfinder, but it definitely existing in AD&D (in the 2e days, funnily enough). And Unseen Servants obviously aren't new, although thus may be the first time anyone has bothered to put it in a Bestiary.

Still a big list, but not quite as big as it first appeared.

I'll make those changes when I get home! Was just doing a name-for-name comparison, didn't check each for uniqueness lol

I'm not sure how you'd want to approach it but stuff like the Brine Shark, Living Thunderclap, Living Tsunami, etc. are just the Elementals from first edition give some more specific shapes. They replace the traditional elementals, so one might want to consider them a variant to an existing creature.

Yeah, thinking of making
1) Brand new Creatures
2) New Variants of old Creatures (Crimson Worm, Brine shark, etc)
3) The rest (The variety of Serpentfolk, Leshy, Drow, Etc)

Just haven't had a day off to do it
