Weapon Specialization and Failure Effects

Silver Crusade

Does weapon specialization add to the damage when a failure effects such as the failure on Brutal Finish deals a die of weapon damage?

I'm inclined to say no. I always read those as being just the die, no modifiers.

I base this mostly on the wording of Strike, which says:

"Success You deal damage according to the weapon or unarmed
attack, including any modifiers, bonuses, and penalties you
have to damage."

Since Brutal Finish and their ilk doen't specify, it doesn't get any modifiers, whether bonuses or penalties.

Agreed, look at some other Feats to compare:

Brutal Bully: While raging, when you successfully Disarm, Grapple, Shove, or Trip a foe, you deal that foe bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier; add this to the damage from a critical success to Trip. [Critical Success The target falls and lands prone and takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage.]

Thrash: [The foe] takes bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier plus your weapon specialization damage plus your Rage damage.
