Good afternoon! Accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, so I decided to post again here: I just wanted some clarification about this FAQ about the Community Use Policy. Me and a team of other people are building an Italian SRD for PF2e and we weren't sure about what exactly the community use license means by "descriptively reference" when talking about the trademarks.
I may "descriptively reference" trademarks, proper names, locations and characters from products listed in Section 1 of the Community Use Approved Product List. What do you mean by "descriptively reference"?
In general, this means you may create and publish original works using those things in a variety of ways. You can write original fiction or adventures using them, you can create original artwork illustrating them, you can write up entries in a wiki about them, and more. (You may not, however, simply republish significant sections of descriptive text from our products—you need to craft new text.)
For example, can we actually have a gods section with all the proper names and other names (like Desna/Song of the Spheres)? Can we mention Golarion and its regions/countries/ethnicities when talking about different ethnicities for the ancestries or mention the First World or the Bleaching? Or use names of other planets/planes, like Castrovel or the Boneyard? Or do we have to use a roundabout way to talk about them (i.e. goddess of dreams for Desna)? Can we quote the fluff in italics that's at the start of every chapter (for example the blurbs about each of the classes/ancestries)?
Futhermore, I'd like to know if the official Italian translation falls under the same CU policies as the English version.
Thank you in advance for your replies!
