Ambrosia Slaad wrote:I think society has been too liberal and injudicious with the use of awkwards. They're too effective. I look around and try to remember the last time I'd ever seen a wild awk, and I can't recall it it. Our imaginary children will never know the joy and slight unease about being surrounded by a small semi-moist flock of waddling awks, because we've warded them all out.In this part of the world, the Awkward is an honoured member of the community, shepherding the gentle Awks as they wander to and from their nibbling grounds, guarding them from ravening Fors, soothing their fears, and healing minor ailments with a mixture of bucket pudding, tiger balm and Sanatogen Tonic Wine.
Ugh. Agreed with Ambrosia, with a slight modification. Here, I think the wards are made of awks conjured out of magical force. But yes, they’re all over the place – wards and/or arcane awks – and as a not-an-animal-person, I am not here for this. :)
Is definitely not posting from within a magical circle, or other form of planar binding. Why do you ask?
More to the purpose, what I meant to say was, congratulations, Kobold Cleaver!
And thanks for this bit:
Lord Fyre wrote:Alright, how did you come to the realization?
No I don't question your gender identity, but as you said, there was some resistance to this truth. The realization was delayed by a rare hormonal disorder called "gender assigned at birth", which tends to create a lot of confusion for some people. In my case, as I think is the case for many, my growing up was defined by a gradual understanding that we are more comfortable being ourselves than we are attempting to be other people. Once I'd learned that lesson, it was pretty easy to just identify the various ways I was more comfortable and connect the dots.
I was as surprised as anyone else to learn that a lot of people never quite made it past "you can tell Minnie is the girl mouse because she was genetically born with eyelashes and a pink hairbow" in their biology textbooks.
It really brightened my morning. :)

I just saw this thread!
Rock on, Kobold Cleaver!
Sure, you were a bit of a pain in the ass when you first joined this community(for those not aware, I was a forum fanatic for years before I started freelancing, not to mention before I joined the crew here), but I've loved having you been a part of it. I used to joke that you grew up with us, but I didn't realize that, first, you were as young as you are, and second, that you really did grow up with us in a way.
Congrats on your discovery and bravery and we're glad you're still around!
Smurf!

Aw, thanks, you crazy Mantis Flumph! I actually literally tell people, "I pretty much grew up in that community," for better or worse. Usually for better—as terrible as forums can be, I think they're a lot better than social media for a young kobold's developing mind. More curated, more community, which is pretty good when you live in 2000s America and thus have no real access to community in realspace. :P
And yes, Lunias, I'm turning 25 this December! I've been on these forums more than half my life. I still live in fear that one day Teter will do the math, realize I joined under the age of 13, and finally get around to banning my butt. It's a good thing Postmonsters get so tripped up by the Y2K stuff.

I think that by now it might fall under the statute of limitations...

It's very hard to break out of the societal stigma once you start in the underage forum posting industry.

Do we need to have The Talk again Kobold Cleaver?

Kobold, I think I speak for both Ward and myself when I say that our love for you hasn’t changed.
And by love, I mean lack of it.
Don’t forget to clean your cage.
Oh, that reminds me, I was reading through the Carceri Gazette's For Rent section (some great locations, by the way, I know you've been looking for a change of scenery lately), and I happened to notice that Ward was mentioned in the obituaries. Don't worry, he's in solitary now. They don't know where he keeps getting ahold of the handsaws.

That louse deserves whatever he gets. And I have some ideas on what he can do with that handsaw.

FINE, I ADMIT IT! I’m the one who peed on the rug!
It had nothing to do with Kobold coming out, or Ward’s completely justified incarceration, or the Dude’s mistaken identity, or Mrs. White’s husband’s work on the top secret fusion bomb. It had everything to do with the bottle of gin I chugged this morning.

Sweet kobold cleaves! I was just recalling how much I appreciated and respected your insightful and well-stated posts on the topic of fantasy racism in a thread back during the PF2 playtest and looked up your name.
What can I say except congratulations on being your authentic self and all that jazz? I suppose it's only natural that all kobolds at one time were eggs, so happy hatching! I hope that your community at home is as wonderful and supportive as this community you have online!

Haha, those posts are my legacy, I guess. Forever down in history as the woman who didn't understand Elder Scrolls orc lore.

Lovely to hear from you, Kobold Cleaver.
It's nice to know that you've reached the point in your life where you are/can be comfortable in your own skin, as it can take people many years (including myself, as I haven't quite got there - for my own reasons - and I'm turning 30 next year).
Also, whenever I read your posts (prior to the creation of this thread), I always got the impression that you were a girl.
