First Seeker Lezosk was a tortured individual with a complicated legacy. What we know of Lezosk so far primarily comes from two main sources.

1-08 Sanctuary of Drowned Delight:
We came across a portrait of him.

Library wrote:

A large portrait in the northeast corner displays an intense-looking ysoki in an official uniform.

[snip]

The portrait dates to a period almost 150 years ago, known as the Time of Uncertainty among Starfinders. First Seeker Lezosk took command of the Society during the later end of this troubled time and was responsible for various reforms. Lezosk's last known act was to construct the Perplexity, a mysterious proving ground that exists to this day on the grounds of the Lorespire Complex. Lezosk disappeared shortly after. Portraits of this First Seeker are exceedingly rare, and likely of extreme value to the record keepers of the Lorespire Complex.

The other source is the Perplexity Series in which we learn, among other things, that Thursty is an evil, evil man.

1-98 & 2-98 Perplexity Series:
What happens in the Perplexity stays in the Perplexity. You will have to play it for yourselves to learn more!

Really, there's not a lot of information on First Seeker Lezosk for the aspiring student of Starfinder Lore. But then... as I was prepping Shades of Spite, something occurred to me.

2-20 Shades of Spite:
We learn in Shades of Spite of the existence of Silent Strike, a venerable ysoki who teaches a school of assassins on a ship called the Executioner’s Nest in the shadow plane. Silent Strike was first introduced into lore in an article on the Shadow Plane in AP #9, written by Thurston Hillman.

But... Wait! We have two ysoki in lore who have created devious testing grounds for their students that are fundamentally unfair. Both these ysoki were originally created by Thurston. What if... they’re LINKED? Was First Seeker Lezosk originally from the Executioner’s Nest? Was he one of Silent Strike’s predecessors? Or... perhaps a former student from the Executioner’s Nest?

Is this the real reason that Silent Strike reached out to the Society, and is using us to further his ends?

Anyway, that’s my tinhat theory. If anyone else has theories about this elusive former Second Seeker, please put them under spoilers.

Hmm

PS Thursty, if you are reading this... Have you thought about a minor faction for First Seeker Lezosk? I’m guessing that it would have rather dubious boons and benefits, but it sure would be interesting.

"Could be that."

I am now imagining the horror that ysoki summer camps must be.

The heck is Perplexity series? I don't think number 98 scenarios exist

So I guess its one of those "convention only" scenarios I never get to experience :'D

I really dun wanna talk about The Perplexity. I mean, I went back, but only so other Starfinders don't gotta go. No need to ruin other folks's lives when I'm still alive. Sorta.

As a 4 nova, one of the things I have been looking forward to is offering it online to folks outside the US and Canada so that people from across the world can curse me forever for running it for them.

Charli nods. "That's why I went back, too."

Stella rubs the tattoo on her shoulder and casts her gaze downwards. "I went back because I want to know why he did it. I went back because I'd rather it be me than them. I went back because I want to make sure nobody else has to suffer like... like they did."

The feychild gnome looks upwards, an uncanny fire in her eyes. "I went back because I don't know how else to atone."

Lyther adds in. I was going to go back this year, but got stuck on a plague planet.

Small side note: Based on the timing, it really seems like the Time of Uncertainty was the period that followed First Seeker Lanrah's tenure. Her mandate to solve the mystery of the Gap chewed through the Society's resources like a slow-motion Scoured Stars incident. So First Seeker Lezosk was probably a, or the, First Seeker who had to devote their mandate to reassembling the remains of the Society.

That's a really interesting theory. Rasheen's Riches tells us that Lanrah's short tenure was in 160 AG. Sanctuary of Drowned Delights puts Lezosk's tenure to "almost 150 years ago." The current Starfinder year is 320 AG. So, yes, your timing is a definite possibility, especially since Sanctuary gave us an approximate date rather than a specific one.

Who else could have been a rebuilder after Lanrah?

Roheas was also a rebuilder, though we don't know much else about her timeline and tenure other than clues from the SS Roheas boon:

Second Seekers Roheas Boon wrote:
Only the longest-lived Starfinders remember the tenure of First Seeker Roheas (CG female damaya lashunta mystic) who dedicated much of her governance to protecting pre-drift civilizations from exploitation. Though conflicting reports indicate what happened to the First Seeker, a handful of eager Starfinder historians have taken to following in Roheas's footsteps by forming a minor faction dedicated to what she stood for.

We know from Twitch Starfinder Wednesday that Roheas also rebuilt the Starfinder fleet of ships, and that she was herself an enthusiastic pilot -- all of which points to her being a star shaman. Still, I don't think she was involved in rebuilding from Lanrah. One hundred and fifty years ago was not that long a time for some Starfinder races, after all.

My suspicion from the wording of the boon is that Roheas is one of the earliest first seekers, far predating both Lanrah and Lezosk. That is why my SS Roheas character, Cadera, is a Witchwyrd. In my head canon, Cadera was confirmed as a Starfinder during Roheas's term, but then had to take a couple centuries of leave of absence for a family matter. Now she's back just in time to witness the transition to yet another new First Seeker!

I'd love to have an adventure where we spend more time learning about First Seekers of the past. Maybe we'll get one in Season 3 in the Athnaeum.

(Some other reflections on Starfinder First Seekers of yore can be found in this Zo! newscast.)
