Building Tar-Baphon a Girlfriend

Advice

So in Mythic Realms it says Tar-Baphon had Urgathoa hide his phylactery. In Dungeons of Golarian, it says that the level before Tar Baphon contains his closest allies, including his consort. I'd like to build a rad Urgathoan girlfriend, with a CR of 23. I'd really appreciate help.

Divine Paragon Cleric-5/
Evangelist PrC-10/
Agent of the Grave PrC ???

Divine Paragon/Evangelist is a fun combination... giving you six Boons; all of the Evangelist Boons, and your choice of the Exalted or the Sentinel Boons. It's not overly powerful, but it has a lot of flavor.

I can't really imagine Tar-Baphon dating anybody but clone of himself :p Since CLEARLY he is only one one up to his own standards ;P

Gender bent simulacrum?

Uragthoa is the goddess of Death and Gluttony. Tar-Baphon is a Lich: that covers the Death Part. So his girlfriend needs to be about the Gluttony.

I'm thinking this needs to be a fat girl. I'm thinking Grappling and Swallowing Whole. Maybe levels in White Haired Witch + Great Cleave so she can Grapple Multiple opponents.

Gluttony doesn't have to be about eating things. But if you go with an undead, then maybe her stomach is missing, so no matter how much she eats, she never feels full. The stomach may even be replaced with something like a mythic bag of holding.

If you are going to make her about gluttony, then you have to give her:

Fast Swallow (Ex)
The creature can use its swallow whole ability as a free action at any time during its turn, not just at the start of its turn.

Format: fast swallow; Location: Special Attacks.

Gingerbread Witch

I like the gluttony theme but I imagine her skeletal with a gaping maw that she always gorging with food.

I love this idea, I was actually considering the Evangelist and the Agent of the Grave but I didn't know about the Divine Paragon. Stacking these is a huge flavor win.

The simulacrum is an interesting idea - there is supposed to be a legit simulacrum in the lower crypt as well, it'd be funny to just have it be a simulacrum with boobs.

Adding the gluttony aspect I hadn't considered, I like the winter witch + swallow whole concept, and a stomach that leads to a mythic bag of holding would actually be quite the trap.

You mean like this?

No more like skeletal thin but with functional anatomy. :)

@ Lamartes,
No way. If she is going to include a gluttony theme, then she gotta be THICC! Make Sir Mix-a-Lot proud with those buns, hon.

@ Mazikeen,
The Divine Paragon/Evangelist is my go-to Cleric. Just so perfect and flavorful. I built an Annis Hag Divine Paragon Cleric of Gyronna with the Evangelist prestige class, and she is fabulous.

Ahem...Lemartes! ;)

Interesting I haven't seen anyone else but me who likes the Evangelist archetype.

I had made a theoretical build of a Cleric of Gyronna that was a Changeling with the Arnis Hag heritage.

A variant Charnel God of Aroden. Could change its type to undead, but I feel like this still works. And is CR 23.

This message brought to you by the National Council of Tar-Baphon/Aroden shipping.

OH. OH GOD. I didn't know about these. What an idea. That's delightfully twisted. I like this.

@VoodistMonk

I do enjoy the idea of her being big, especially since Tar-Baphon so skinny

Gender bent simulacrum?

What, you are presuming he is straight? ;D

But seriously though, self sexuality isn't about gender, its about glorious unhealthy narcissism :D

In this thread, it has been given that the GM has assigned this monster a sexual orientation that includes females.

Imho, the fact that Bar-Baphon is an undead monster made from twisting and perverting its body and soul with evil acts and perverse magics trumps its gender and its orientation.

But CorvusMask, fair questions and interesting directions to take the Whispering Tyrant.

Reading up on him and the Whispering Way more, it’s hard to imagine the consort not being a lich or some other form of undead.

I was going to say more or less the same thing, but I assumed the OP confirmed he had a canonically female consort. Now I'm less sure.

But the idea of a Tar-Baphon simulacrum with cartoonishly feminine features makes me happy in the inside.

PS: Non-straight people can have hetero relationships.

True yeah, but I didn't see need for gender bended Babhon clone so asked why :D

Since this has become very collaborative I'll concede on the skinny part and go with the "brickhouse"!

I had a thought last night...as above Gingerbread Witch until I think 12th level to get swallow whole. Then Bloat Mage!

"You other brothers can't deny"

Edit: To correct from 11th level to 12th. :)

That's a great suggestion, I love that. Tar-Baphon did study up in Varisia back when he had his mortality, where bloat mages are from even.

@Melkiador She definitely has to be undead, but that can easily be added thanks to the multitude of undead templates that exist now. Which one is the right one is the question.

@CorvusMask I think you're right, it's easier to see Tar-Baphon with himself than anyone else. He isn't a thing one can easily picture as, say, caring about anyone else. I think it's a good concept. In Dungeons of Golarian, on this same level as his consorts, body guards and generals they include a simulacrum of Tar-Baphon that doesn't blow to pieces when destroyed, and this could totally fit that idea.

It's worth mentioning, it uses the word consorts, not consort. So, there could be multiple.

Thanks. :)

Don't forget her Ecorche bodyguards posing as halfling servants. :)

Does she? She can't be an evil Outsider or some kind of long-lived Aberation? Honestly, when I first suggested a fat girl with grappling and Swallowing Whole, my first thought was Froghemoth, but a person: some kind of person-like Froghemoth. But why not a girl-Nalfeshnee Demon, or something that looks like one?

It's all good. If you want her to be another Undead, like a Boatmage-Lich, that's fine. I'm just asking/observing.

I suppose this makes sense. I was originally suprised by the number of daemons that were hanging out with the whispering way. It just didn't occur to me that things that weren't undead or undead aspiring would be into it. But a daemon from Charon's court makes total sense as well.

Hmm, so multiple Tar-Babhon clone harem?

But yeah, stepping outside the Tar-Babhon selfcest idea, I honestly wouldn't be surprise if he had harem or polyamory going on, though as undead lich I can't really imagine it being sexual in nature, which kinda makes you wonder what he has consorts for since he seems to be megalomaniac and narcissistic so hard to see him needing emotional support unless they exist to validate himself.

Well, if you subscribe to the notion that he has a shard of the Shield of Aroden embedded in his hand ever since the end of the Shining Crusade and that it causes incredible pain for the past thousand years or so, then having the company of a bevy of other people who can distract him from that pain is probably useful. Or people he can vent his rage upon.

Ok. let us be serious here. Baphon died around 59 years old, and he had descendent, so he was probably married. He was a wizard king, after all. He had to be a queen or similar at his side. We have to understand if this "consort" is the same one he was married when he was alive, or was she met/romanced when he was the Whispering tyrant?

I believe that, as a Lich, Baphon would have not felt the need to "marry" anyone.
He's described as a volatile, violent and self centered being. So, he's either married to some kind of trophy consort, or with someone that he "wants to have" of his old life.
Since we know not history of someone "forced" to become the tyrant's wife (cause if there was, Arazni would have probably plotted with them) I would therefore propose the following solution:

Baphon's consort is his first wife, the one he met and wed 4 millennia ago: The Golden Queen of Grafar (no other names are needed).
She was possibly one resident of Kestrillon (Grafar's previous name), or someone that plotted their ruin. She helped young Tar achieve it, and they bonded over that carnage. I imagine her as a ruthless queen, but with a twist: she could have been a true kalistocrat, and have different ideas from his husband about life and the afterlife.
She was the one that kept together the kingdom while Baphon was away, taming dragons and sacking cities, and was the one that kept for a while Grafar going after her husband was murdered by Aroden. She was, however, too killed, either by Aroden or by her's many, many enemies, and buried in Grafar's to be forgotten.

She was brought back as something by Baphon when he returned. She could not be active or relevant before that event, cause if so Aroden would have probably intervened again.

Now, i think she could be a mummy lord of sort. She's an ancient queen buried.
That could be classic.

But an interesting possibility would be to have her, in life, be a kalistrade prophet, and have actually achieved her own heaven. Until baphon's called her back, forcing her soul into a golden green body, and making her a failed prophet.

In this new, unique form, she has become a bitter, miserable being, which tries to regain what she's lost, but cannot. She converted into an urgathoan follower, hoping to regain the ability to "feel", but as a construct she cannot "proper" indulge into the excess she would like, and so she feasts of the bodies of other kalistrade followers, to absorb in herself their afterlives, in the hope, one day, to regain hers.

Now, as a statblock, i would use a martial class. I see her as an unique failed prophet monk 16/rogue 4 with the ability to consume not only gold and wealth, but also the "souls of the wealthy" to gain more power and abilities. Possibly a "soul scent" ability too. I don't think she should be another caster, but there is always the bard solution (starting by Queen Ileosa's stats).

I like the idea of Baphon having a melee powerhouse around, also able to shoot blast of fused gold and that he has to "applease" by gifting her jewels she eats.

I must make a correction.
In Dungeons of Golarion, it's written that Baphon had "consorts", and many beings of strange nature. They are describes as all undead, or at least undead like.
So, Baphon's "girlfriend" could be everything.

I like my interpretation, but we can literally go crazy here. I invite you all to propose your own OG as the WT consort.

Consort doesn't even "have" to be romantic in nature, though it usually is. You could go lots of directions with it though.

Maybe he keeps finding women who remind him of his original wife and turning them into various types of undead trying to create his ideal mate, which is ultimately an impossible standard.

I can't imagine that ol' Tar-baphon has a romantic bone left in his body, if he ever had any. And carnal pleasures aren't really in his wheelhouse either.

Especially, consort probably just translates to "elite minion" :P

If he doesn't, that doesn't mean he doesn't have a girlfriend, an insatiable gluttonous girlfriend who spends eternity lusting after an undead man who has no interest in her at all. So imagine the passion she takes out on the party as they come in, eager to devour them, eager to make her once-hot lover jealous.
