Bane Baldric on Inquisitor without bane?

Pathfinder Society

So, I have a Magus (Kapenia Dancer) 6/Inquisitor (Living Grimoire) 1, and an looking at spending some gold. I immediately went to the babe Baldric, them had a question on the rules for it. As it's written, it affects Inquisitor differently than noon-inquisitors. My character IS an inquisitor, so it should treat me as 5 levels higher for proposed of babe and greater bane - however, my archetype years away babe and greater bane.

As actually written, this item would do nothing, as if I was 5 levels higher, I still wouldn't have to bane ability. Should my character be considered a non-inquisitor, and just get a non advancing 5th level bane ability, or should I just skip the item for great if table variation?

The table variation is strong with this one and i think leans towards no.

Silver Crusade

I would consider you a non-inquisitor for the purpose of the effects, but yeah I can see this leading to lots of table variation.

That is an interesting question.

I would assume that there would be table variation on this.

When I read it, I would honestly assume the following for your character, CraziFuzzy. Since you are an inquisitor, it would increase your level for the purposes of Bane to 6. However, as you have given up the Bane ability for other archetype abilities, you won't have a Bane ability to increase.

I think that I would rule that this item does nothing for you.

As a player, I would avoid purchasing this item, for reasons of table variation and unclear rules, IMHO.

I think the issue is the inquisitor level for bane is - rather than 0

I would agree, you would be an inquisitor lvl 6 for purposes of bane, but you have given up bane, and therefore the baldric would do nothing for you.

If you were a inquisitor without an architype, you would be good to go but that is not the case here.

I would consider you a non-inquisitor. Doing otherwise seems silly.

However, the bigger question here is what weapon would you be using it on? I don’t think either the bladed scarf or the grimoire would qualify. Kapenia Dancer wields a bladed scarf as a one-handed weapon, but it’s not a one-handed weapon. So wouldn’t be able to attune to the baldric. Similar issue with the book. It deals damage as a light mace, but it’s not a light mace. The book, on its own, is not a weapon.
