Fascinating Performance and Inspire Heroics / Lingering Composition

Rules Discussion

Pretty simple question,

Fascinating Performance reads "When you Perform, compare your result to the Will DC of one observer."

Both Inspire Heroics and Lingering Composition state "attempt a Performance check..."

Does attempting a Performance check count for the "When you Perform" requirement for the purposes of Fascinating Performance?

Yes.

Everywhere else I have read seems to be of the opinion that it is "when you Perform" (as in the Perform action) not "when you do a performance skill check".

It's referencing the Perform action. If it intended to work on any performance check, it would say "when you make a Performance check".

This one is definitely a "no". The first answer you got here was simply wrong.
