Does Constrict still let you deal double your bite damage?

Rules Questions

So pathfinders old Bite grab start a grapple, succeed at grapple, constrict basically had monsters doing double damage.

How does starfinder constrict work?

Spoiler:
Grab (Ex)
Source Alien Archive 3 pg. 152, Alien Archive 2 pg. 151, Alien Archive pg. 155
If the creature hits with the indicated attack (usually a claw or bite attack), it deals the normal damage. If the attack roll result equals or exceeds the target’s KAC + 4, the creature also automatically grapples the foe. (If it equals or exceeds the target’s KAC + 13, the creature instead pins the target.) The creature does not need to have a spare limb free to perform this grapple as long as it can make the listed attack, and it can potentially grapple more than one target if it has more than one attack with the grab ability. The creature can maintain the grab either with another successful grab attack or by performing the grapple combat maneuver normally.

Constrict (Ex) When an acrochor successfully renews a grapple or a pin against an opponent, it automatically deals 3d4+12 bludgeoning damage to that creature.

Is the ability to maintain a grab giving the spacesnek 2 options to maintain a grapple (combat manuever or bite) or is Bite/constrict still on the menu? (along with our intrepdid space explorers)

Round 1: Bite. grab (no question here it can't do both on round 1)

Round 2: is either (

grapple for constrict damage or bite for bite damage AND hope to hit KAC +4 in order to constrict

You renew the grapple check with a combat maneuver grapple check at you have to hit a KAC +2, because the target has the grappled condition that gives them a -2 AC penalty.
If the target is pinned, you would have to hit KAC +0 to maintain the grapple because the pinned condition gives a -4 penalty to AC, or a KAC +9 to
Maintain the pinned condition.

I think that if you choose to attack first, you are not maintaining the grapple, so you have to hit the KAC +4 again, but if you maintain you have a better chance at succeeding.

I'd think if you were biting again, you aren't maintaining a grapple, you're starting a new one.
