Lingering Composition and Inspire Heroics

When using either one of these, say your level 6 what is the DC in order to crit? Is it based on your allies highest level? Would it always be DC 32 to crit?

The DC is based on the highest level target of your performance.

What does that mean? Is that my allies highest level? Or my enemy's level?

The DC is based on the highest Level creature you are trying to affect, the DC's being found on Level-Based DC's Chart . If the highest level creature you are trying to affect is Level 6, the DC would be 22 {DC 32 for a crit.} If say an creature you were trying to affect was Level 7, it would go up to a DC 23 {DC 33 for a crit}

Note the part a GM may assign a different DC based on circumstances. For example, if you were to Inspire Heroics by sing a holy hem about a deity, in one of there temples, and the targets were their followers, I would make the check easier. Alternatively, if the targets are under a 'Fascinated' effect that is not centered on you, I would make the DC a bit harder.

Since INSPIRE HEROICS is an 8th level feat and affects you, "You and all allies in the area", the minimum level is going to be 8th. So you have to check everyone's level including your own.

Going by the minimum 8th, the base DC is 24 and the crit is 34.

For compositions that affect your allies, check the level of your allies. For compositiona that affect enemies, it depends on the level of your enemies.

Thank you all!

Inspire Heroics

Cast verbal

You call upon your muse to greatly increase the benefits you provide to your allies with your inspire courage or inspire defense composition. If your next action is to cast inspire courage or inspire defense, attempt a Performance check. The DC is usually a very hard DC of a level equal to that of the highest-level target of your composition , but the GM can assign a different DC based on the circumstances. The effect of your inspire courage or inspire defense composition depends on the result of your check.

Critical Success The status bonus from your inspire courage or inspire defense increases to +3.
Success The status bonus from inspire courage or inspire defense increases to +2.
Failure Your inspire courage or inspire defense provides only its normal bonus of +1, but you don't spend the Focus Point for casting this spell.

The very hard DC will put a +5 in the DC level, so instead of 24, it's actually DC 29 at lvl 8.

A bard with Master Performance, max Charisma and a +1 item bonus will have +19 to the check, meaning having to roll a 10 and crit only with natural 20. If you have the Virtuosic Performer skill feat, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus, letting you get a success rolling a 8 and crit 18.

Yep, thanks for the correction: I forgot to go back to modify for very hard.

Oh damn, that really sucks. Makes it super hard, especially if you aren't optimizing your hooped.

Yes, but you know that you need to skill checks in advance, so it's a lot like how you wouldn't take Flurry of Maneuvers on a monk if you aren't investing in athletics.

Yep, it that is going to be your thing, you want to max out your proficiency, take Virtuosic Performer [+2], pick up a horn of blasting [+2] AND see what you Dm thinks would be good circumstances that might lower the DC. ;)
