What would progression beyond 20th level look like?

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm beginning to realize that I won't be able to fit everything I want to into the remaining levels of the game, and that there will be a decent amount of content after they hit 20. However, I don't want to just halt character progression at 20, but don't really know how to do that. Any ideas?

Liberty's Edge

I think granting the normal + Level Progression for everything it applies to and continuing to grant Class, Ancestry, General and Skill feats plus Skill Training and Ability Score boosts at the same Level Pattern for the Class is a fair way to continue extending things.

One thing to consider though which this will not help is further Training in things like Weapons, Armor, Saving Throws and Perception so you will probably have to figure out a way to factor those in if you also want those to continue advancing.

For example, a Monk would gain

Level 21:
Skill Increase
Ancestry Feat
+21 to Proficiency Checks

Level 22:
Skill Feat
Class Feat
General Feat
+22 to Proficiency Checks

etc

Basic would be Class feat and Skill feat every even level. Skill increase every odd level. General feat every 4 levels after 19, so 23, 27 and so on. Ability boost every 5 levels after 20, so 25, 30 and so on. Ancestry feat every 4 levels after 17, so 21, 25 and so on.

Ninjaed :-)

You might need to extend the hard-caps, too. Eg a skill rank above legendary and letting attributes rise above 24

These are some good ideas! The need for another level of proficiency is a good point, probably "godlike" or something along those lines that's 10+level.

I could also probably whip up some new skill feats to go along with that proficiency. Like a religion feat that requires godlike proficiency and that you are the champion of a deity, for instance (not champion in the class sense, might need a rewording, but the idea's there).

Maybe Epic and/or Mythic for a new tier (or possible two new tiers post 20)….

Personally I like Mythic, it lends itself to the flavor they had in Pathfinder 1.0 ;)

I'd also go with mythic. And if you need a +12, then godly or diefic.

Mythic are those character who surpass the boundaries of mere mortals and enter into realm of demigods. Mythic goes from level 21 - 25.

21:Mythic Class Feat, Ancestery Feat, Heightened Instinct(Allows character to raise one of their saving throws proficiency similar to monk path.), Skill Increase.
22:Skill Feat, Mythic Weaponry(Boosts Casters weapons to Master, Martial's to Legendary and Fighters to Mythic(+10 Mythic is)) .
23:Mythic Class Feat, General Feat, Mythic Spellcasting(Boosts Casters to Mythic spellcasting and Warpriests to Legendary.), Skill Increase.
24:Skill Feat, Mythic Armory(Boost Casters to Master, Martial's to Legendary and Monks/Champions to Mythic in their specific ones).
25:Mythic Class Feat, Ability Boost(Can go up to +8 modifier), Ancestery Feat, Skill Increase.

Mythic Class Feat: Allows character to use it like any other class feat but they can also instead choose to get Mythic specific class feats as well.

Greater Weapon Specialization: Increase to +10 if character gets to Mythic Weapon Proficiency.

Rogues: Level up skills provides 1 skill feat/increase.

Skill Increase: At level 24 a character can get to Mythic in one Skill while Rogue can get 2 Mythic skills.

22:3rd & 4th Spell...

This is some great stuff! Another possibility for spellcasting is getting a single level 11th, 12th, and 13th level spells at the appropriate odd levels, but then the question arises of what spells that powerful would look like.

Also did calcution of attacking Treerazor using weapons at level 25 using weapon potency, ability boost and boosting weapon profiency.

Fighter
Succeed 50%
Crit 20%
Fail 30%

Martial
Succeed 50%
Crit 10%
Fail% 40%

Caster:
Succued 40%
Fail 60%

So at 25 party well able to fight him but ability be nasty fight off, could make him fightable for party at 22 or 23 level.

Horizon Hunters

As you don't win any "new" talent, I would say that gain a class feat of half you level every odd level is a good way to fill the gaps, that way you can use the even level class feats for dedications.
And I would say that a "epic proficiency rank" with 10+level could appear at level 25+
Level 1 trained
to Level 2 specialist 1 level gap
to level 7 Master is a 5 levels gap (4 over last gap )
to level 15 legendary is a 8 levels gap. ( 3 over last gap )
to level 25 epic is a 10 levels gap. ( 2 over last gap ) and level 25 is the monster/item max level until now, and the "epic attribute"

Calculate the gap between each proficiency ( armor, weapons, save, perception ) last upgrade and keep the same pace.

I would say that every 5 levels beyond 20 all attributes gets 1 enhancement instead of picking 4.

This system might be one of the easiest to scale to infinity.

Numbers wise, absolutely.

The problem is additional feats.

Of course, epic-level feats (and spells) would be nice to have.
But even as-is, you would have nice options: refining your class taking feats you skipped - another capstone is usually available; you could also get dedications and delve into other classes: by level 40 you can have capstones from classes you have dedication into.

All sorts of ways you could do it.
Obviously scaling numbers would continue to scale.
Could say on odd levels, you can choose between training 2 untrained skills or 1 skill from Legendary +8 to Epic +10.
Even levels you can choose from a number of epic/mythic feats (the ability to take skills past Legendary could be one of these feats, even).
And abilities could either stay every 5 levels like usual. Or say every level you boost one score by one boost.

It's really cool the possibilities there are.
I'd probably use it for running Wrath of the Righteous or something.
