When we finish, I will either run a new module sized adventure or perhaps run a second group through the module for more feedback.

Hey Timespiraled, sounds like a really great adventure and the setting guide is excellent. I'm full up on time right now, so I'm not going to apply. But would be really interested if you run it again in the future.

Thank you so much! I'll remember to come back to this recruitment then for sure!

Here is mine for final review.

So to summarize, we have submitted:
Origami Dog -- Shiro Heida (Human Ninja)
The Archlich -- Xi Fong/The Huli Jing (Kitsune Vigilante-Teisatsu)
SamuraiNitta -- Farukon Sora (Human Gunslinger-Black Powder Vaulter)
Axolotl -- Lung Shanyang (Human Inquisitor-Living Grimoire)
Smooshiebanana -- Scarlet Nakamara (Human Samurai-Yojimbo)
Trscroggs -- Feathers of the Night (Tengu Swashbuckler)

And a couple of others who have dotted interest.

I think I'll still be selecting the final team Friday. Cutting down to the final four/five is gonna be tough, I'm loving everyone.

Hopefully a few of the others who dotted interest will get characters in!

I think we have melee covered! ;)

Small bit of story:
Many know the name of Soeji, though most call him Old Soeji. Azuya however has another name for him, grandpa. Well great grandpa but grandpa is easier. Soeji has many descendants, children, grandchildren, great grand children... it is safe to say that Azuya was never alone. Like many of her cousins and siblings Soeji saw potential Azuya. Wisdom beyond her years even as a child. So as Azuya grew Old Soeji too a more active role in her upbringing. Soeji's grand daughter, Azuya's mother, didn't seem the mind and even encourage it. Azuya would give a different statement, though it wasn't too difficult just a bit... rough. While the family connection was close, their ideas on styles and philosophy differed. She may have taken her great grandfather's teachings about how to defend one's self to heart, but there was a turmoil in her grandpa's heart. A conflict he never kept hidden. Azuya dedicated herself to a path of serenity and inner peace, she wouldn't become what her grandfather was... and if she could, she'd pull her great grandfather our of his strife.

You don't say.

This is SamuraiNitta’s submission. I changed the name to be more in line with Mandarin, Sora was Japanese, and asian but not necessarily linguistically connected to Yuanzi.

Here is the backstory, the crunch is still the same and I’ll slowly be adding it to the profile but its the same as it was before.

Background:

Mengqin Yun

Growing up in the mountains Mengqin Yun learned two things that have become defining motivations for him, freedom is the ultimate purpose of existence, and to be truly free one must live in the service of something greater than himself. It is this metaphysical dualism, that whether he knows it or not guides his every action.

Many people, mostly his father, Mengqin Niu, would consider Yun to be flighty, unreliable, his head too far into the clouds, and perhaps this is true. Yun spent most of his childhood shirking off his responsibilities as the son and apprentice of one of Piaofeng’s most prolific masons, to climb and descend the peaks of the Shijing Mountains. He would run after the mountains goats, fascinated with the way that could jump from cliff to cliff, he would leap after the falcons while they hunting enamored with thoughts of one day soaring above the mountain peaks himself. So despite their disappointment in him, it came as no surprise to anyone in Piaofeng that when Yun came of age he left, with very little word to anyone except a small note to his father that he wanted to see the world. Yun still carries with him all the words of disappointment his father put on him, and expects that they will never have a happy relationships but still felt obligated to inform the patriarch.

But despite any sadness in his heart, he had the world in front of him, he could dedicate his life to anything. He spent a few years just wondering, finding things that didn’t fit him, religion was too structured. He was an acrobat for a while, but realized very quickly how little acrobats get paid. He felt aimless until the day that he tried his hand at fishing, in the town of Shuishang. Something about being close to the unexplorable filled Yun with the sense of desire that he had been looking for. He spent a few years learning the sailors trade, making runs further than most residents of Yuanzi got the opportunity to see. It was also here that Yun was introduced to the concept of gunfighting as a means of protection and combat. He took it readily and was able to combine it with his natural training in acrobatics in a way that no one has seen before. But soon the feeling of restlessness came over him again.

It would not be until Yun was a part of crew making a drop-off in Xin, that word of a man named Old Soeji was looking to find the best adventurers in a bid for the Celestial Courts challenge. Yun realized that this may be exactly the next thing he needed and so, left the ship, again without so much of a word, and sought out Old Soeji. Initially, the man was not impressed with with what was physically presented to him, the look of a dirty sailor is not necessarily a reassuring sight. Yun, ever the optimist asked to prove himself, setting up targets around a field of poles sticking straight up. Yun then balanced on the pole, jumping between them, all the while firing, reloading, and hitting the targets, once all the targets were down he landed in front of Old Soeji, bowed low, rose and with a grin said “When do I start?”

Great background! Thanks for writing that up!

I think since we have melee covered, I'm going to swap mine out for a different character and go with Piella, who will be going into illusionist.

It's Friday! You know what that means? It's time to pick my team. I'll be going through everyone's submissions one last time and pick a 4-5 player team.

Apologies in advance for those not picked. I will happily come right back and hire you if I need replacements and will ping you when we get to a new adventure.

Good luck to everyone. Can't wait to find out either way.

May the August Personages of Heaven smile down upon the applicants, and so forth.

Thanks again to everyone for posting in, I've gone made my selection. Apologies again to those not picked. It always feel so harsh to let even a single potential player down, but I've tried games with 6+ players and it just gets too crazy.

I've gone and selected the following five players:

Origami Dog -- Shiro Heida (Human Ninja)
The Archlich -- Xi Fong/The Huli Jing (Kitsune Vigilante-Teisatsu)
SamuraiNitta -- Menquin Yun (Human Gunslinger-Black Powder Vaulter)
Axolotl -- Lung Shanyang (Human Inquisitor-Living Grimoire)
SmooshieB -- Piella Pollyhum-Prettyfoot (Gnome Illusionist)

Please dot the Discussion thread.

We had a lot of melee submissions so I did have to spread out the love.

Again, I'd be happy to pick anyone not submitted as replacements and feel free to dot into the adventure to tag along as watchers from above.
