A magical construct race

General Discussion

So every year, they do another 'realistic' illustration of the infamous Paizo Golem and ever since Starfinder was released, I have enjoyed the science-fantasy vibe I get from that big purple goofball's pictures.

Lately, I am warming up to the idea of a new kind of magically created construct race, like a bunch of golem servants that never got turned off and now have figured out how to reproduce and think for themselves. I was wondering what that might look like to other people or if there's something I missed in the archives that already covers this.

They don't have SF stats, but wyrwoods sound fill a similar niche in Pathfinder. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to make a homebrew conversion, if they are along the lines of what you are looking for.

Interesting idea actually!

So in my head, they would have to be a large race, have android perks, maybe some sort of energy or magical effect.

In general there's a bit of a missing niche for a playable *arcane* construct - we have androids and SROs for technological ones, but nothing on the magical side of things.

Amrantah's in attack of the swarm #3 are pretty close. Not 100% magic, but definitely hybrids.

I have to admit that the Amrantahs were on my mind when I wrote this because they came closest to the "Golem" itch.

Ironically when I posted this question to the SFS page, someone gave me the official in Canon stats for the Paizo Golem and it is canon that he's a space traveler!
