Can Templates be situational?

Rules Questions

So I have an idea for a NPC or even a PC down the line of a Brute but when in brute form gains a template as well. I know as a GM I can do this but can templates be situational?

You answered your own question. : )

The only situational template I found was the was the wizard arcane discovery Werewolf Shape.

You might be able to do something like that with the Master Chymist prC... it's Mutagenic Form ability allows you to become an entirely different race while under the effects of a Mutagen... I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to apply a template to the Mutagenic Form it grants...

If you, as the GM, decide so, sure, but that's not a 'ruling'.

Example: if the ritual is performed correctly (blah, blah, blah) and appropriate sacrifice is made at the Dragon Stone, one can assume the half-dragon template for one minute three times in the next month.

There are templates you can loose, such as devil-bound. I don't see why the opposite couldn't be true, though I don't know of any that fit that description.

There's nothing in the rules stating that a template cannot be gained or lost at a given moment. That would be a game design question rather than a rules question, and such questions can really only be answered by whomever is designing the content in question. Hence,

is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know.
