Im about to start a new campaing, only core rulebook... and i want to play a really angry guy who grapples and cuts stuff, the thing is that i want to give him a cleric level for better saves, luck re-roll, ability to use cure wands and enlarge person. Only one level give him all of this but i not sure if not give him a second level (will not change is bab comparing to 1 level of barbarian) to not waste his bab and gain a bit more of will saves. What do you thing is better? Cleric 2 Barb x for the saves and extra spellcasting or cleric 1 Barb x to avoid dealying his class features?
