Eating angel or demon meat....yeah I know.

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

So anyway we're playing an evil campaign and planar conditions are such that outsiders who get killed stay dead.
So anyway, we killed a Solar the other day, and one of our guys want's to cook up some of it's meat and eat it.

Which got me thinking.

What would happen to you if you ate concentrated law an good in the form of meat?
Or if you ate fiend flesh for that matter?

Are there any rules that could be used for this issue?

I know that eating flesh of intelligent creatures is an evil act.

No rules that I am aware of. However, a creature is a combination of its soul and its body. I would venture the alignment of the creature is much more an aspect of its soul than it is an aspect of its body (and why the souls of the dead go to specific planes of existance for their afterlife). The body of the creature is just the body and may or may not be healthy to eat.

Don't outsiders killed outside of their home plane just dissipate?

Angelskin armor is made of what it sounds like and, going by the price, you can find it for sale in most large towns. Clearly a source exists for dead non-dissipated angels.

It has the effect of blocking evil auras, which means the body of an angel is good-aligned, not just its soul.

Maybe if you eat a lot of angel pie, you become Good? And then feel guilty about your evil deeds, such as butchering an angel and putting it in a pie?

For an Outsider the soul and the body are one and the same.

Yes when they are summoned. Not when they are called.

However the planar conditions currently in the world (the party is trying to rectify that) are such that planes are interwoven.

not so.

an outsider's body and soul are the same always, that is why unless stated you can't resurrect them once they die (look it up in the magic section i believe).
summon creatures (any) have a temp body made by the spell. when they die it dissolves and they go back (hence why anything they bring over goes back when the summon is over\ they 'die'). outsiders who are summon are the same so they don't really die from dying if summoned. but calling is actually teleporting (or opening a gate) and bringing the actual creature over. any called creature that die stay dead (unless it has an ability to be brought back etc)

I'd expect a solar's body to be confusing, enraging or nauseating to evil creatures from the opposite alignment infused into it. There are no relevant rules about that consumption though as far as I know.

Sovereign Court

AFAIK Pathfinder Society rules say that eating the flesh of intelligent creatures is cannibalism. Which is an evil act.
I wonder what should happen to a person who actually consumes part of a Solar's soul.

Sound logic all around, but I can't get behind this part. I don't care what the rules have to say about price relating to availability; some stuff is harder to find than other stuff.

That's a useful rule of thumb to go by, sure, but it stops making sense very quickly.

Thematically, evil outsiders would be the most likely to eat dead good outsiders. Not only would it not be harmful, I'd presume they would rather enjoy the experience. At least, the kind of outsiders that one might expect to eat other sentient beings. It's just another layer of perversion and destroying all that is good and nice.

It's all fun and games until you get Good-aligned heartburn.

Well, celestials typically have DR/evil, so presumably evil outsiders are basically the only ones able to digest them fine.

Yes, but demons have DR/good, so their indigestion from eating an angel creature would bypass their DR. :)

(I'm probably overexplaining what was an offhand joke, sorry)

Eh... yea... maybe, I guess?

This. The OP wants to eat a Solar, which has DR 15/epic and evil. That'll make it pretty chewy. Unless you polymorph into something with a pretty solid bite attack, you're going to be swallowing it whole.

It's also going to take a while in the oven, with Resist Fire 10.

OMG can't wait to see his facial expression when I ask him if he can chew trough that.

In my opinion, the best idea (the non-digestible solar stuff), but if they managed to kill it, I suppose they have a weapon able to bypass that DR. So nothing stops him from dicing it until the pieces are swallowable. He still probably won't be able to digest it, with possibly dire consequences, but I know some players that won't think twice about that.

Also, love when people gather to overthink the process of eating an outsider.

A creature having a tough (or magically protected) hide does not necessarily mean its innards have that same property.

True, but it can mean that, and a solar has impressive enough defenses that it's likely more than just tough skin.

swallowing undigetsable meat...not so bad. Trying to excrete undigested meat...ouch. Bad. Very bad.

Maybe a stew could be made from opposed alignment outsiders so their influences cancel out? Maybe ground meat patties? Heaven and Hell burgers.

You could presumably puke it back out. You /would/, presumably, puke it back out, actually. I don't think very large bits can pass on to the intestines?

Ok, so you get an Unholy Sausage Grinder to bypass the DR and make Solar Hot Dogs. Then any individual bits are small enough to digest. Get some Evil-aligned condiments, throw in a Neutral hot dog bun, you're all set for your blasphemous tailgate party.

(we're spending an awful lot of effort to figure out ways to make angels edible; are we the baddies?)

Dark Archive

I don't know about eating angels, but eating demons or devils seems like a 100% guaranteed way to contract demon fever or devil chills...

We're about twenty posts from talking about grinding angels into dust and inhaling them.

...Whoops, guess I just jumped ahead a bit.

I imagine that eating Protean could give you quite a high. Someone must have tried a Voidworm spliff.

What's the craft DC on that?

Is this the point when we reveal the mutations? Cuz this is how you get mutations.

The real question is, if a succubus were to grapple an angel, could they eat them while they're alive?

Well... uhm... the succubus lacks a bite attack or a swallow whole attack? Unless, I guess, she uses a spell or magic item to get one? Then... maybe...?

Angel meat is best served blue. Demon meat should be medium-well to make sure all the worms are dead.

Well, I don't know about angel meat, but eating demon meat will give you a temporary boost in physic powers with the downside of being extremely addictive.
