Leveling after Mortal Usher

Rules Questions

The prestige class mortal usher gives you a feature called mortal talents, giving you the features of an additional level in one of your base classes. But what happens if you then take levels in said base class?

E.g. if im rogue 7, MU10, i have all the features of rogue 12, but the stats of rogue 7. If i then level rogue, do i have the stats of rogue 8, and features of rogue 13? Or do i gain the stats and features of going from rogue 12 to 13?

This matters because rogue 7 to 8 gains a reflex save and a BAB, where 12 to 13 does not.

For BAB and saves, you add the contribution from your rogue levels to what you get from your usher levels. So you will get the BAB and save increase (to +13 BAB and +9 reflex).

Mortal Talents doesn’t affect BAB or saves.

The way I look at classes like this is this:

Rogue-7/Mortal-Usher-10/Rogue-1 = Rogue-8/Mortal-Usher-10

These two characters should have the same BAB/Saves/Talents/HP/etc, they just got them in a different order.

There are some prestige classes that work differently (like Master Chymist), but the language used is fairly different.
