Npc Advice Urgathoa's Hunger character

Advice

The next game I am in is a round robin style game where we take turn Gming
Are Main Gm will start and i'll After the person after him and I want to start working on a few Npc Ideas

This is a homebrew world that we are all building
The world map is a bunch of small nations with 1 or 2 large ones with vast stenches of water in between.

I have and Idea of for either a Warpriest or inquisitor of "Urgathoa" (I said it that way cause we will have are own patheon of gods and such)

I want this character to be a scythe wielder and good at using intimidation
The THE Image i have is human like so human or maybe Dhamipr>

I need advice on class (Archetypes) and feats other than Urgathoa Hunger
Build needs to be around level 7 &n 8

So is this a recurring NPC, or one they'll fight once for a handful of rounds at most? Different design goals there.

Well, there's a Horseman (NE) by the name of Apollyon that uses a Scythe...

The Daemon Harbinger (NE), Diceid, uses a Scythe...

Deskari, the Demon Lord (CE), uses a Scythe...

Fuel for the fires of creativity...

This should open up your portfolio of Domains and Inquisitions available, but still embrace your overall intentions...

It is homebrew, all things considered.

As for Warpriest or Inquisitor, I would go with Warpriest...

I love the Inquisitor. And it offers great bonuses to Intimidate, but...

Warpriest offers the bonus feats and virtual BAB for your quintessential Intimidate feats like Cornugon Smash/Hurtful, as well as scaling base weapon damage... you can always trade Sacred Weapon for Weapon Training since you are starting with a Scythe and can buy Impact.

How would you build it? o3o i i could use some help making it strong but not to powerful

I'm not exactly sure what you want to be able to do with this villain, but it's pretty standard Warpriest stuffs with a splash of Intimation-focused feats thrown in.

Race: Dhampir
*Dayborn racial feature

25pt buy:
16,14,12,8,15,15

Probably the normal Traits like:
Drawback: Cruelty
Faith: Fate's Favored
Religion: Denial of Fate
Combat: Reactionary

You will want these Feats...
Weapon Focus Scythe
Power Attack
Cornugon Smash
Hurtful

And probably these, as well...
Improved Initiative
Intimidating Prowess
Furious Focus
Shatter Resolve
Improved Critical
Quick Channel

Use a Adamantine Scythe with Cruel and Impact on it.

Keep your Charisma high enough for a good Intimidate bonus and decent Channel DC... Shatter Resolve/Quick Channel and a Cruel weapon go nicely together.

Ok so I'm thinking of a build like this

Human: Warpriest

Feats
LV1: way of hunger
LV1: Power attack
Warpriest Bonus: weapon focus scythe
LV:3 POWER Attack}
LV:3 Weapon of chosen
LV:5: Improved weapon of the chosen
LV:6: Greater weapon of chosen
LV:6 fcb: Vital Strike

The idea is once i figure out another feat

is use way of the hunger with my vital strikes .
(is this doable) (if so i may use it for a pc build if i ever do another higher level game)

You have Power Attack listed twice, but I didn't know about those Weapon of the Chosen feats. Neat.

However, it's three feats just to get two rolls on a single attack... your weapon will most certainly be magical by then, and you can make it magical with Sacred Weapon from the Warpriest anyways.

Weapon of the Chosen is a swift action, you have way better uses for your swift actions as a Warpriest. Fervor, for example, is capable of doing way more than all three feats combined with one swift action.

Sacred weapon is a swift action, too, you don't want to be competing with the chassis of your class to use your feats.

Your Divine Fighting Technique is also a swift action, and a Cruel weapon does the same thing without wasting feats or action economy.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A warpriest is a pure combat character and not that good at getting away to fight again another day. I'd go for an inquisitor instead, and keep an invisibility spell up their sleeve to escape with. Stern gaze will help with intimidate.

Signature skill (intimidate) and dazzling display will hopefully reduce the odds against him if it comes to a fight. Inquisitors don't get bonus feats so those, the WF (scythe) prereq and divine fighting technique are all the feats he'd get. Choosing some useful spells would be the main remaining decision and the inquisitor list is loaded with those.

I was talking about a Dhampir character with another contributor.

Dhampirs have Blood Drinking Feats. You get a Bite Attack some how, then you do Blood-Drinking with every Bite Attack and give yourself Temporary HP and inflict Constitution Damage on your players. That will make a formidable opponent for your characters, and totally in keeping with the Avatar of the Goddess of Gluttony!
