We went through the whole thing with a very interesting party.
Android criminal operative (Gadgeteer). He was modeled after John Preston from Equilibrium. I flavored his trick attack as gun Kata (using engineering due to all the angles and equations.). Plus the utility belt fit his abilities in the movie decently well (weighted ammo clips, auto reloaders)
Female Pahtra Envoy (don’t know her theme)
Female Pahtra Operative (wild warden survivalist)
Male Mercenary Nuar Mechanic (Exocortex). An attempt at a melee operative, he took advanced weapon prof and versatile spec. Had heavy armor prof from his exocortex. He was basically our soldier.

Book 2 must have been challenging. :)

I don't get it. why are people always hung up on the so-called wookie prisoner trick, when that didn't even work in the movie in the first place?
Mostly because it is the only way to get around some of the "stranger" species options in Starfinder.
That and the lack of any hints in a Player's Guide that human (and near human) species would be advantageous in this AP.Lord Fyre RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32 |

We're about halfway through book 1, maybe not even that far.
Party consists of the following
Human male ace pilot mechanic
Ysoki male cyberborn technomancer
Vesk male gladiator soldier
Human female grifter envoy
And a Korasha Lashunta male priest (of Desna) solarian who's been watching the ship while his player was away. We'll see if he joins the full cast.

I just started playing this Adventure Path with the friend sweeties I'm sheltering in place with during this Pandemical Age. They're a really rad group who came up with just the loveliest crew!
Salvation-1, android icon hacker operative (android abolitionist), a famous leader in the Thyst Rebellion (and before) whom the player has described as starting out as Che Guevara, then becoming Cesar Chavez, and now on its way to being the Southern Poverty Law Center or American Civil Liberties Union. It will be becoming a lawyer over the course of the campaign, likely multiclassing in envoy as a result.
Bukhmynn St. Arfullr (I'm not sure how the player spells the pun, but I like to visually obscure it a little bit), a contemplative of Ashok corporate agent envoy whose parents took advantage of Akiton's economic downturn to buy up large swathes of property, establishing a solid base of wealth on the planet. Now they're pressuring their child ~ who has the title of Vice President of R&D ~ to figure out how to expand the company across the Pact Worlds and beyond. The players and I had to have a long conversation yesterday, because the other players hadn't realized that Bukhmynn wasn't the empathetic, warm, friendly kind of face but the coldly logical social engineer kind of face. The way I put it was that Salvation-1 was better at making friends, but Bukhmynn was better at getting what they want from a social situation.
Flo Trill, kiirinta guard inversion vanguard (battleflower). It left Stabrisis-14 once the larger galaxy was opened to its race cuz it never quite fit in. Ning's gladiatorial arenas seemed like they might provide that home to the ditzy moth-like fey being, so it became an ukara, but its insipid responses in interviews made it hard to market it as a fighter, and within the year it was pressured to go out into the country and protect people. Well, it almost got it right, and I guess Akiton was *kind of* the country.....
Flo doesn't have a connection to Cedona, being easy enough to lead around (as Bukhmynn's bodyguard, it just follows them around). Salvation-1 has the standard icon connection, having been corresponding with Cedona about its work liberating their kind from their corporate oppressors, while Bukhmynn has the themeless/other connection. Bukhmynn's player had wanted a pet empathinid, so I just changed Cubber's species out and made Cedona the source of the pet.

My group have returned to the AP after a long break. Thanks to Covid I actually found the time to prep this properly.
The PCs are:
Skofber a Skittermander Solarian who enjoys stellar rushing opponents with his mote shield.
Arutha, the male half-Orc pilot technomamcer and captain of the Electric Barbarella
Maneleus a male Lashunta Envoy with an unhealthy interest in xenobiology.
And Big Scale, a Kalo mystic with a shady past.
Originally there also was an android but the player dropped out and his place was taken by Skofber.
Before the re-start the original group had already dealt with the arrival and jungle fights, then did a side quest session in the mines when the android dropped out which was challenging enough for them to make it to lvl2 before starting to free Madelon's Landing.
Skofber actually is a resident of the colony but because my players had so little investment in the colony to start with I had to get creative. Arutha's backstory saw him escape from Apostae as a youngster and become the adopted son of a Han Solo type human called Darwen. I figured Darwen and Cedona got married and retired to the colony. Skofber is a friend of Darwen's. They were all on Nakondis when the Azlanti probe fell and subsequently discovered the Royal Venture with Cedona, something I originally planned to do as a prequel game as our Skittermander player had never dabbled in Starfinder. Sadly that game session never happened, so I had to get creative, wrote up what would have happened as a short story and used other bits as cut scenes to open game sessions with, which is working quite well.

I'm not sure if I'm joining this conversation way too late to post but as I've just started this AP with my group I'd like to share.
We're heading into our third session in which the PCs have decided make one of the BTEP mines their base whilst they figure out the best way to fight back against the Azlanti occupation.
The current party is:
Moyishuu Tempered Pilgrim Witchwarper
Android Street Rat Mystic (Healer Connection)
Sarcesian Ace Pilot Mechanic (Hover Drone AI)
Human Spacefarer Nanocyte (Obliteration Faculty)
Vesk Mercenary Soldier (Guard Fighting Style)
Next session they're going to be joined by another PC - a Shirren Biohacker.
Having fun so far - with the way I've altered the adventure and player choices we've yet to have a standard combat, but that's going to change next session when they have to clear out the BTEP of giant, electrical pests before making it their base.
