Question about Awaken and Baleful Polymorph

Rules Questions

So, if you Baleful Polymorph a party member and they make their Will save, can you then cast Awaken on them?

If you can do this, what are the specific effects? The Int and Cha bonuses are obvious, but how does the +2 HD work?

I'm asking because I'm curious if a Vivisectionist could play mad cyberdoc and surgically augment his party.

The spells in question:
Baleful Polymorph
Awaken

Awaken only works on animals and plants; Baleful Polymorph doesn’t change the recipients type. So unless you have a group member with a very strange type, no.

So Polymorphs don't actually change your creature type? That's good to know. Thanks!

Almost nothing actually changes your creature type. I think there are a few mystery/bloodline capstones that do it, but they're very rare.

...Okay, dying and becoming a petitioner changes your creature type, so there's that.

reincarnatie should, no?

edit * nvm - i was thinking of old school reincarnate where you could come back as animal as well. pathfidner's seam to be humanoid only

In theory, if the GM constructs a table includes something of a different type, you would indeed change type. The default table does not include such creatures. Inner Sea Races has a table that includes a few native outsiders, but the chances of rolling one are kinda low.
