Battle Medicine and Dying

Rules Discussion

So we already had a long drawn out thread about how many hands it takes, but I want to know how it interacts with the dying condition. Normally you can stabilize an ally in combat, can you use battle medicine to treat wounds on a dying creature? Seems gross to have it be 1 fewer action, a lower DC, and a much better result than first aid, but it's also a feat, so I'm not sure

From what I can see, Battle Medicine only works with Treat Wounds, which can remove the wounded condition, but not the dying condition.

You would have to use administer aid to remove the dying condition, then use Battle Medicine to heal them and remove wounded, for a total of three actions.

The restriction with Battle Medicine seems to be that you can only use it on each person once per day, so you wouldn't be able to do this often.

If Battle Medicine heals you, then you are back up.

If you lose the dying condition by succeeding at a recovery check and are still at 0 Hit Points, you remain unconscious, but you can wake up as described in that condition. You lose the dying condition automatically and wake up if you ever have 1 Hit Point or more. Any time you lose the dying condition, you gain the wounded 1 condition, or increase your wounded condition value by 1 if you already have that condition.

Unfortunately, this does not remove the Wounded Condition (you'll generally need a proper 'treat wounds' for that)

I mean, it's still once per battle, so I guess it's not too powerful, just seemed like an overlooked interaction. The first time it came up, I compromised and let him do the treat wounds DC and action but only have the administer first aid success

If you are talking about Battle Medicine, it's 1/day per recipient.

The target is then temporarily immune to your Battle Medicine for 1 day." CRB p.259

Not once per battle...

Well, it could be once per hour for someone with the Godless Healing feat, but otherwise yes, it's once per day.

Ahh, I do not have that book and don't know anything that is in it. Thank you.
