Ranger or Slayer - Dual War-Axe Build

Advice

Looking to Build around the Idea of Dual Wielding War - Axes

1: I assume the easy way to play a Dwarf or can another Race pull this off

2: I want to be Strength Base and i Assume either Ranger or Slayer is what I need to play as.

3: Considering Number 2. Besides taking TWF as my Combat style Feat. what other feats should i give this character.

4: This Character is not meant to be Optimized but some functionality would be much welcomed

The problem with twin Dwarven Waraxes is that, since it's not a light weapon (and Effortless Lace will never work with it), you'll take an extra -2 to attack when TWFing (which isn't worth the 1 extra damage on average you'll be doing with the waraxes). Honestly going Half-Orc and wielding an Orc Double Axe is probably a better call. You can go Sacred Tattoo+Fate's Favored to get a +2 luck bonus to all your saves and Orc Weapon Expertise can give you some nice bonuses: Defender gives you a +2 shield bonus every time you are wielding the double axe, or if you take Thug and then the Enforcer feat, every time you deal damage you also deal 1 nonlethal damage, which then gives you a free Intimidate check against the opponent.

I'd recommend Slayer for this build frankly because a) Studied Target is more reliable and applicable than Favored Enemy, and b) you get a bit of sneak attack damage which double weapons make even more use of if you're flanking someone.

Weapon Focus is a natural choice to ensure you actually make the attack roll, and Double Slice can be nice to give you back some damage on your off-hand but realistically that's just about 2 damage at lower levels so you might choose a different feat.

Effortless Lace will work, since it only requires a one-handed slashing or piercing weapon of your size for that weapon to be treated as light.

You can take the possessed hand & hand's autonomy feats to reduce TWF penalties and possibly more in that line to be able to do more weird stuff. Dwarves can get steel soul if you want better saves. You could go for intimidating prowess/killing flourish, or cleave through+prereqs. Just don't try to do everything.

It would work with the 2 weapon fighter archetype.

Another way this would sort of work is if you fought with say Dwarven War Axe and Sickle. You Trip with the Sickle, and then you get to make an Attack of Opportunity with the Dwarven War Axe.

I was thinking I have to do this some time, but with a Warhammer: Hammer and Sickle. I'll be the Soviet Union!

The fighter archetype still has to qualify for the feats. This usually means a two weapon fighter is DEX based. A ranger can ignore the prerequisites for the feats, so does not need to have a good DEX and can focus on STR. A slayer can take ranger combat styles as a slayer talent and also ignore the DEX.

I'll second the Slayer. Ranger spells are amazing, but they tend to favor archer builds. I suppose another race is possible, but dwarf will prove hard to beat.

Any reason you can't just use a Dwarven Maulaxe and a Dwarven Waraxe? You lose an average of 2 damage on the Maulaxe attacks but you don't need to worry about managing the attack roll penalty.

There are advantages to using two of the same weapon - some feats only apply to one type. Besides, it's a cool image.;)

Martial Versatility would help if you were a Human and took some Fighter levels. With Fighter you can easily get Exotic Weapon Proficiency easily.

Fighter can do this easy.

Let's say...

Race: Human

Alternate Racials: Martial Tradition for Horn Bow and Dwarven Waraxes, keep skilled.

20PB: S16 D15+2 C14 I10 W10 CH8

Traits: Defender of the Society, Indomitable Faith

Armor: Aim for Tatami-Do. Afterwards, keep up with a Belt of STR/DEX and adamantine Tatami-Do for more DR.

Feats:

LV1. TWF, Cunning

LV2. Weapon Focus: Dwarven Waraxe

LV3. Advanced Armor Training: Armored Juggernaut

LV4. Weapon Specialization: Dwarven Waraxe, +1 DEX

LV5. Advanced Weapon Training: Effortless Dual Wielding

LV6. ITWF

Rest kind of writes itself?

Until level 5, you need to use another off-hand.

Which culture has both Dwarven Waraxes and Orcish Hornbows as traditional weapons?
