Okay, here's my list of ideas for now:
*A Kitsune Ninja/Sorcerer: an infiltrator, sabetour, and assassin, she uses her innate Kitsune magic in combination with ninja training to spy on villainous organizations and assassinate their key personnel.
*A Kitsune Striker/(Spheres of Power) Shifter: a master of shapeshifting combat, he struggles against a terrible curse--a kumiho's hunger for the vital organs of thinking beings.
*A Tengu Monk/Samurai: scion of a long line of tengu swordmasters, he eschews armor in favor of speed and bladework.
*A Nagaji Monk/Druid (Naga Aspriant): a devotee of the naga, he seeks to become one himself through physical and spiritual self-improvement.
Now I have to decide which one(s) to build... XD
Hiriko Kaneka
Here is Corrik's entry for the campaign. An Oni-Spawn Tiefling: PoW Stalker(Brutal Slayer) for the gestalt, Warpriest(Warpath Follower) with a Monk(Silver Fist) dip for the other side. Build is mostly done but still doing some tinkering and double checking for any mistakes with all of the homebrew rules. If selected, I'd modify the backstory some to meld it better with the campaign and party.
As a yamabushi, Hiriko has a detached view of the world. Like most of her order, she prefers relative solitude and the grandeur of the natural world to the hustle and bustle of civilization. As such, Hiriko is mostly unconcerned with the day to day problems of the world and its people. However, her order does not consider itself to be apart from the world, and matters of imbalance or stagnation concern them greatly. It is for such matters that Hiriko occasionally journeys through the sphere.
Homeland - Minkai, Tian Xia.
Monastery at the base of Mount Kumijinja on the Ikkaku Peninsula.
Parents - Father and step mother are alive
Shiroto Kaneka - Father, venerable human. Tiny old asian man.
Meguma Kaneka - Mother, died in childbirth with Takashi.
Umie Kaneka - Step-mother, Shirota’s second wife, venerable human. Tiny old asian woman.
Siblings - 1 sibling, 1 half sibling
Takashi Kaneka - Old Human Male, 59. Younger than Hiriko but physically much older. Took over the family inn from his father, has grown more prosperous under his control.
Ameiko Kaneka - Oni-Spawn Tiefling female, 54. Blue Oni, Half Sister. The youngest of the siblings, works at the inn with Takashi.
Circumstance of Birth - Lower class
Family runs a modest hot spring inn outside of a Mount Kumijinja monastery. Numerous family members have been members of the monastery over the ages.
Parents Profession Innkeeper: Father ran the family inn, as his father before him and his son after.
Major Childhood Events
Death of mother - Hiriko’s mother died in childbirth with her brother, Takashi. A traumatic event for a young child, ensuring that Hiriko stayed close with her family. This occurred over 60 years ago, as such Hiriko has long since moved on from her grief.
Finding her Tetsubo - Hiriko pulled her Tetsubo(Hai) from a small fissure that opened near her. A gift from Yamatsumi.
Monastic training - Hiriko has spent much of her life training in a mountain monastery.
Class
Warpriest/Monk || Stalker
Influential Associates

Deity - Yamatsumi
Romantic Relationships

Traits
Magical Knack, Warpriest - Hiriko’s training has allowed her to expand her horizons while maintaining her core disciplines.
Iron Liver - Hiriko’s hearty nature and love of drinking has fortified her against the effects of poison and alcohol.
Her parents, Shiroto and Meguma Kaneka, raised her with care and affection, and only sometimes lost their patience when she broke through a wall. Hiriko has fond but faint memories of her mother, as Meguma died in childbirth with Hiriko’s brother Takashi. Hiriko never harbored feelings of resentment towards Takashi and played the big sister as best she could, though she was ill suited for the roll. However, Takashi’s human biology and maturity saw their roles start to reverse after but a handful of years. When Takashi was 5, Shiroto remarried to a woman named Umie. Soon after giving birth to Hiriko and Takashi’s half sister, Ameiko. Whom also inherited the oni blood of the Kaneka line. Hiriko left to join the yamabushi a few years after Ameiko was born, but her frequent visits home ensured they remained close.
Even at a young age, Hiriko displayed great strength and a fiery nature. She soon joined the monastery that tunneled through the mountain, a traditional role in her family. Hiriko had always resisted chores, education, and her family’s trade. However she near instantly took to her training, both the physical and spiritual aspects. It was not long before she earned the favor of the god Yamatsumi. While meditating in solitude, an earthquake opened a small fissure in the earth near Hiriko. A solid metal tetsubo jutted from the opening, red hot from the lava which flowed freely like blood from a wound. Despite this, Hiriko felt drawn forward. The lava cooled and hardened beneath her feet as she approached. The red hot metal only felt warm to the touch as she pulled the weapon free, hefting the large, heavy weapon with ease. From that day forward, Hiriko wielded not just the strength of her Oni blood and the skill of her monastic training, but also the power of Yamatsumi.
I might submit a Psychokineticist (Void) / Divine Paragon Cleric of Tsukiyo. I don't own 3rd party content so I imagine that the character will probably be sticking to paizo specific stuff ^_^
Most of the content Path of War content can be found on the SRD and most of the Spheres of Power can be found on the Wiki.

To the various people who my request may have perturbed, my intent was never to bring up a game-breaking design. I’m probably as off-put by power-gaming as y’all are, and third party appeals to me purely for the wider array of interesting options. Being the guy on the sidelines while everyone else does awesome stuff sucks.
All that said, I’ll have my character ready soon.
I understand that wasn't your intent, and my issue was not with your specific request. I tend to be hesitant with 3PP stuff in general, as it tends to be written in people's spare time, and isn't always tested for balance sufficiently.
That being said, I did look more at the archetype, and I see that it's from the Kineticists of Porphyra book. One of the authors is N. Jolly, who wrote one of the better Kineticist Guides here on the forums. That makes me feel less hesitant about it, since he has a good understanding of the mechanics of the Kineticist, so it should be more balanced against Paizo's stuff.
If you're interested in a more heavy armor melee-focused Kineticist, the Kinetic Knight is a pretty good archetype from Paizo.

I'm brewing up some more ideas - currently I've got an Aegis/Crimson Countess Harbinger. Roiling suit of energy that reaches out and slurps people - powered by the anger of a normally pretty chill person.
Investigator/Warder who runs around beating the s$*$ out of people for the patrol zone.
Making gestalt ideas is tough!

I'm leaning towards the kitsune ninja/sorcerer idea. @GM, are you wanting builds already, or is this still more of an interest check?
Also, do you know of the Kyubi Paragon prestige class? I'd be interested in taking that for this kitsune idea.

Ash Raven,
I note that prior to your starting a recruitment thread for this game you had a total of 9 posts on these boards, stretching all the way back to late October.
With that sort of background, I have to ask. Have you any history of playing and/or running a PBP game (presumably on some other forum) that would provide some evidence that you’ll start and run your game for a while?
We see a lot of people post cool game ideas and disappear during recruitment, or run their game for just a month, etc. So before I spend a bunch of time auditioning to be a player, I want to be sure you’re a GM that will stick to it.

Ash Raven, I have some questions.
* Everyone gains a Ki Pool equal to 1/4 class level plus their highest mental ability score modifier. Classes with a medium or high BAB progression also gain a Stamina Pool as per Combat Tactics.
Is this Ki Pool separate from the Ki Pools offered by other classes (i.e. Monk, Ninja, etc.)? Could we combine both Ki Pools? If not, which Ki Pool do you want us to use?
* Wearing no armor grants you an AC bonus determined by the BAB of your "locked" gestalt side and your level. The lower the BAB, the lower the bonus.
As a monk, do I use both the AC Bonus from the monk class and the CDB to help determine AC, or must we choose one, or the other?
I ask because my submission will be a gestalt Unchained Monk/Fighter (Great Hero archetype).

I'm checking in every so often while I work on the recruitment. I don't have a hard release date for when that will drop at the moment, just a vague "sometime soon". Here are answers for some of the questions and concerns posed in the meantime.

This thread is an interest check. There will be a recruitment once I finish up the details and write-up.
I will allow Kyubi Paragon. Nothing looks broken over a quick review of it. Chakra Reservoir is the strongest thing it has and that has fair limitations.

I do not have any official experience with play-by-post. I know of it from friends and have read the guides here from Painlord and Doomed Hero that offered some pretty good advice.
I can't give any evidence that I can or will stick with the idea if I am totally honest. I don't have anything to offer as evidence other than my word. Everyone has to start somewhere though and that's probably as true for new play-by-post players as it is for new play-by-post GMs. All I ask for is a fair chance. I understand if you don't want to risk wasted effort on the new guy. It's probably frustrating and I won't hold it against you if you don't want to take that chance.
TheWaskally
Ki Pools from all sources merge into a single pool.
The Monk AC bonus and the class-based AC bonus both stack. Remember that the AC bonus is determined by your locked gestalt side. That means that your character would use the low-end of class-based unarmored AC.

I've got some more information on the game and setting for you all that will hopefully keep interest up until I can get the recruitment going.
* The Haiiro no Shinigami are a group that worships the deceased goddess of death and fate, Pharasma. Each member ritually brings themselves to the brink of death and an unquiet spirit is bound within their body to bring them to a unique state that exists between life and death. They perform the old duties of the Pharasmin faith and maintain the sanctity of death in the land. Members of this cult almost always have levels in Spiritualist due to their ties with the spirit bound to them. They also belong to one of the new homebrew races I made for the setting, the Mantled Shinigami.
* Jinin is known as the Time-Frozen Kingdom. During the apocalypse before the Great Sundering, the elves tried to save their kingdom through altering their nation's place in the timestream. This failed, but did produce something unique: a land where time slows to a crawl. The land exists in a state of eternal dusk.
* There are fully-detailed ninja clans, samurai orders, and Primal Kami faiths.
* Races are restricted in this setting. Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, and all types of Orcs do not exist in this Tian Xia at all.
* There are new races, two of which I will mention. Mantled Shinigami are a race of deathless stewards created from one of the other mortal races by the Pharasmin cult. Spiritfolk are the fey children of a union between a kami and a mortal and have powers based on their parent kami's nature: Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Wood, Water, Ice, Metal, Void, Beast, or Stars.
*Some old races have new options. Aasimar get options for Celestial Dragonblooded and Kami-Blessed racial variants for example.

Legendary Samurai is going to be very popular, it would appear. I may look into using something else for my submission, instead of that.
I mean, I’m literally talking about building an Asian version of Disney’s Robin Hood... so, like, maybe don’t treat my potential application as really laying claim to any design space...
TheWaskally
Do the legendary classes have a free resource document or do you have to buy pdfs or something?

It isn't your idea. There's a lot of people focusing on the melee combatant niche with their ideas, and I'm realizing that there's a real possibility that there will be a lot of overlap in submissions. My general reaction to seeing that is to start looking for alternative character ideas that might help me stand out from the pack a bit more.

I know an actual recruitment is on the way, but I'd thought I'd submit my character for the Eyes of Ruin campaign since it was done. I'll resubmit him in the actual recruitment later. But here is 'Great Hero' Mirai, gestalt Unchained Monk/Fighter (Great Hero archetype). If Ash Raven needs me to revise the monk's background to fit the upcoming campaign, I will do so, but for now, he is finished.

I had the same feelings about so many nelee characters, so I finally decided to retake something that I once got to play but sadly died off at 2nd-3rd level: the Ki Blaster Sage. Yes, yes, I know, I am dangerously close to being Krillin :P It'll have more of an Ise-Zumi flavour, though.
And that's when my question kicks in: anyone knows a way of being able to boost attack or damage when using rays? What about being able to hit using Wisdom (apart from Guided Hand)? With all these 3PP rules, it's easy to get lost in a sea of feats, archetypes and spell-likes...

Between the Ki Blaster Esoteries and Destruction Sphere talents you'll have plenty of ways to boost your energy blast damage. Path of War also has a number of "Boost" maneuvers that can add attack and/or damage to ranged attacks. Specifically the Solar Wind tree but there are other options.
Jereru
@Lessah: I'll have a look there, thank you. I was hoping to be able to add a second part of the gestalt which allowed me to develop more into SoP Combat Talents, but it might be worthwhile if I can get what I want elsewhere.
@Corrik: Sadly, Solar Wind can only be used with weapons belonging to the Bows, Crossbows or Thrown weapon groups. It seems "rays" don't belong to any group, so even though there are tons of options for ranged characters everywhere, the ranged sage doesn't qualify for most of them. According to this FAQ, rays can benefit from modifiers to weapon attack and damage rolls, but are not considered a weapon per se relating to weapon groups or any other thing that's not a straight bonus or malus (or that's what I understand).
As for now, what I had in mind was the possibility of spending 1 ki for Elemental Aura plus 1 ki/blast to get dice=class level, which would amount 3d8+8d6 damage per blast (being able to deliver 3 blasts per turn) which isn't bad. Being able to hit with Wis would be nice because I get a lot of things from it, but well, as I said, I'll have a look at PoW and see if I can get something there.
Corrik
Hmm yeah that's going to be limiting, and the weapon adaptation feat specifically calls out weapon groups. There are some boosts, such as in Elemental Flux that just call out next attack, so I think those would still apply. Sadly the strikes do have the "melee or ranged attack" language, so I suppose the energy blasts wouldn't count as weapons for that.
The Path of War Kineticist Archetype Specifically allows Kinetic Blast to be used with Maneuvers. Kinetic Blade focus but Ranged Maneuvers treat the blade as a 30ft thrown weapon. Might get your blasty side from that and focus the Sage side on something else. Not clear which has more ranged damage potential. Like you said, sea of options.
Monkeygod
I'm not positive, but I *think* you can use PoW maneuvers *regardless* of what weapon you wield, but you can gain various boosts and bonuses when you're using a weapon from the aligned weapons groups.
I also know that some of the Solar Wind maneuvers say 'ranged attacks' as opposed to say, a ranged attack with a weapon. Meaning they should apply to rays.
Jereru
Solar Wind here. If you lok at the paragraph titled "Discipline Restrictions", the last sentence states:
Solar Wind maneuvers may only be performed with a weapon in the bow, crossbow, or thrown weapon groups.
I don't know about other Disciplines, I'm still reading and pondering.
Jereru
Yup, but Rays are not a Weapon Group.
Anyways, I think I'll go with Mageknight. It's easily adaptable as an agile combat gish, adds in nice magic talents, mystic combat and full bab. All very "warriormonkish".
"When the Horse looks up to the Moon, it's time for the Tortoise to go see the Monkey."
"Eh, Master... I think those were not the 'shrooms you asked me to collect..."
Jereru
A question about the special unarmed AC rule:
You state you get a bonus dependant upon your BAB. The rule you link, though, gets you a bonus dependant on your core class or, if belonging to other class not in the core, dependant on your armor proficiencies.
Which one should we follow?
Also, SoM classees (most of them) give only Light Armor proficiency, due to the customization you receive later thanks to your Martial Tradition. How do we handle this?
Ellioti
two more questions:
-do you allow the Unchained Ninja?
-may we apply the Hidden Blade rogue archetype from PoW to the Ninja?
